My G37x Staggered Situation

Guys I know that this thread is really old but I really need help. I have a 2010 G37x Coupe with staggered Concept One Executive CS5.0 which are 20x9F+20x10.5R. Tire sizes are 245/35/20F+275/30/20R. I was on the Parkway and the AWD light stared blinking on the dash when I past 80mph. Reading this post taught me that it's because of the stagger. Can I fix the problem by running 275/35/20 in the rear and 245/35/20 in the front ? Or even go with a 275/30/20 in the front so that the tire sizes are exact even though the width of the rim is different ? Because the tire is stretched on the back rim, but I read that I can fit a 275/30/20 on a 20x9.5" rim. Please help guys. Thank You

do the math and figure out what the overall circumference is. if its +- 3-5% you should be ok

I'm sorry I know this may be a dumb question but I'm new to this. So if its the diameter difference that causes your AWD system to act up what if both tires are 35/20 shouldn't the diameter be the same then ? Even though one 275/35/20 and one is 245/35/20 or does the width of the tire also cause a problem ? Again thanks a lot for your help I wasn't expecting such a fast response

the 35 is the aspect ratio, not the thickness of the tire.

ok i just did the math for you. your setup is +- 1.1% ish so you should be ok (assuming your running 30/35)

this is bothering me because i am about to buy a set of my AWD also lol

The set up that I'm running doesn't seem ok. I've never seen that AWD light blink on my dash, and I believe that means my AWD was heating up when I past 80mph. There has to be some other setup that could work with my staggered wheels. Thanks again for your help buddy I appreciate it

I was just thinking . Could negative camber in the rear have anything to do with my tires not spinning at the same rate ?

no not really. im -2.7 in the rear and -1.7 in the front.

i took off my front wheel spacers for a coupe weeks while i waited for my new ones. i was 25mm out in the back and stock in the front. drove over 1500km in that time (couple road trips) and never had a problem. and i had gone well in excess of 80mph (got pulled over too and got an $850 ticket)

the only time i have ever seen the AWD light blinking was when i was drifting around in the snow for an extended period of time hehe

maybe is was just a 1 time thing?

I think I'm just going to change the size on my front tires to get it as close as possible in circumference to the rear. Everyone I call told me that they do not recommend staggering an AWD but I can't see my car any other way. Lol

You can run 10" wheel all around and possibly add a spacer in The back for a more aggressive stance. That's What I would do if I had an awd car

if you change your rears to 285/30/20 with your 245/35/20 you would be at +- 0.37%

rear 285/30/20 front 245/35/20 compared to 225/55/17 stock for awd

Based on online tire size calculations I got the following specs:

Stock 225/55/17

Sidewall: 4.9
Radius: 13.4
Diameter: 26.7
Circumference: 84
Rev/Mile: 754

Stock 245/35/20

Sidewall: 3.4
Radius: 13.4
Diameter: 26.8
Circumference: 84
Rev/Mile: 754

Stock 285/30/20

Sidewall: 3.4
Radius: 13.4
Diameter:26.7
Circumference: 84
Rev/Mile: 754

Now putting aside the side wall when compared to stock which I cannot see how it plays as a variable AND with is the same for both rear and front non stock wheels and tires.
The rear 285 has exactly the same specs as the stock tire and wheel and the front is off by 0.1 inch in terms of diameter . Can anyone tell me if this staggered fit can STILL cause issue with the AWD. I am trying to get an idea if this still causes an issue as someone with the same tires sizes had a problem with RPM's coming off a pkwy. The only other variable is the weight of the wheel and tire but then again its mounted to the vehicle and has the weight of the car on it so I cannot see that as a variable involved in the calculation involved in the AWD system.
Can EVERYONE go to town on this one PLEASE whether you are an expert or just a user with the same configuration. I'm at the point to ask the Infiniti Design team what they used in their calculations when designing the AWD system.

Thanks a Million,

Mikiss

Does anyone switch back to stock wheels when you bring in the car to the dealer for service? Or do you guys just leave the staggered wheels on? I just want to know cause my car is a lease.

I took mine in with a staggered setup a few weeks back and they didn't say anything about it. That said, it isn't a lease.

245/35/20 and 285/30/20 is the way to go like they said, it's almost an exact match any X coupes out there that aren't having problems with their staggered setup are running 245/35/20 and 285/30/20, this is what i will buy and put on my X coupe, I am 100% confident in this ratio of fronts to rear tires and that it will be completely fine for the AWD cars.

how about 245/35/20 and 255/35/20 on the X coupe?
but the front wheels are 9' and back 10.5?
Got a really good deal on these wheels

i know staggered not recommended, but so many people do it and have no issues.
