The components are a work of art, seamless and perfect. Painting them would be a disservice.

I agree, I was talking about painting the Top Speed mufflers. I sometimes think the mufflers are a little too visible on my Tanabe axleback, but there's a certain distinctive aftermarket look to it that I like.

Muffler delete is a good start. Luckily for you the rear mufflers are both bolted on. Simply unbolt them and drive around for a week to see if you like the sound. You won't have any exhaust tips in the mean time because the mufflers are connected to the exhaust tips.
I drove around with no rear mufflers/ exhaust tips for months before finally buying a cat-back exhaust.
If you like it than you can just take the mufflers to a exhaust shop and tell them to straight pipe it

Y-back includes the mid-pipes after the Y, typically including a pair of resonators. Topspeed makes a Y-back system.
Cat-back includes everything after the catalytic converters, and is a full replacement exhaust (except for cats).
As for the cats, there are all kinds of aftermarket replacements: high-flow cats, resonated high-flow cats, test-pipes, and resonated test-pipes.
