Any former Lexus IS300 owners here? Would like MPG comparison

Just sold my rwd 2004 Lexus IS300 with 117,000 trouble free miles.

For people that have owned the IS300, how does the G37 and G37x compare in regard to mpg. As we know the mpg on the IS300 was absolutely horrible, I am hopeful the G37/G37x is at least better.

Had you searched first, or even looked at the sticky at the top of the subforum you posted in, you'd see that there is already a feedback thread for MPG here. Should net you more input and you can draw your own conclusions.

Thank you, but that did not help me in the least, not even a liittle. I am looking for people that specifically owned both and can give me a direct comparison feedback. I am not looking to go into a "my mpg is horrible" thread, as I know the G37 is not good on gas. I just want to know a direct comparison from people that have owned both.

Well, I haven't owned both, but my best friend drives a 2001 IS300. We both have city street commutes to work with the occasional highway trip, and we both average around 18mpg. Mine is the AWD version though.

Thank you for some feedback. The reason why I was hoping to get a former IS300 owners is that, as we know, everyone has a different driving style. If I can get someone that owned both, I then can get an accurate MPG difference (if there is any) between both cars.

I was on the EX forum previously and someone owned the EX35 and the IS300 and he mentioned that the EX35 got 3-4 mpg better than the IS300, and the EX35 gets around the same mpg as the EX37 which is the same engine as the G37.

I am hopeful I can obtain a similar reply with the G37x

Ryan may not have used tact, but it does appear his suggested reference thread would answer your questions. Fuel economy is math. There should be no opinions. The thread he linked contains value after value of individual fuel economy. Many of those values deviate from each other, substantially. This occurs due to differing driving habits, climate, elevation, etc.

Your best bet would be to compare your known mpg values on the IS300 with those values listed in that thread. On that note, what was the average fuel economy on your IS during your ownership?

I sold my 04 IS300 for my G37. They get similar mpg 19-21, with the G doing slightly better overall at 21-22 mpg, I recently got 28 mpg all highway on my X. I do miss my IS300 sometimes.

Thank you for the response. If he would of helped, as you did, I would not have responded the way I did.

My mpg, regular city was 18mpg. The best I could hope for on the very few occasions when I did mostly highway would be 23mphlg but that was all hoghway. Most of my calculations were with mostly city driving which equaled the high 17mpg- low 18mpg.

AUR11. That is the exact response that I was looking for, thank you.

I am looking at the same car, G37xs.
PLEASE expand on "I do miss my IS300 sometimes." I would really like a side by side comparison from an owner of each such as your self.

I had a 2001 and I would have to say it was about the same as what I am getting now.

Do you have a G37x right now or a regular G37?

Also, other than mpg, can you do a side by side comparion between the two as well?

I have a regular g37. As far as recalling for a comparison Ive had to many cars since then. I went from a 98 z28 that did 13.00 in the 1/4 so it felt like dog but didnt buy it that reason. As far as quality or fit and finish I would say equal.

Lol, I am actually looking for anything BUT acceleration as I know the IS300 is slow lol.

Curious about stock ride quality (smoothness), stock handling, does the G37 feel much bigger behind the wheel compared to the IS300, how does the G37 reliability compare to the IS300, fit and finish, quietness inside. Anything besides 0-60 lol.

Oh for me it was just more of a personal thing, the IS was my first brand new car and I had it from 19-27. I also felt like the build quality was a little more solid, as in just the way the doors sounded when they shut felt more solid and the inline 6 was just super smooth. Plus it just sounded better when you said you drove a Lexus vs an Infiniti. I ended up going with the G37 because I loved the looks, it had all the options I wanted and over 300hp and the lack of refinement actually makes it enjoyable and feel more like driving a sports car than a luxury sedan. I will say that first on my list was a 2012-2013 IS350, but I could never find one with all the options I wanted and didn't want to spend 50k on a new one. That car just felt so much faster, probably due to size. I will say my biggest regret is not getting a rwd 6mt G, it truly is a much better driving experience than the X.

Stock handling goes to the g37 as I only had the stock 17" rims, the IS300 felt bigger, the g37 was more quiet, quality of the leather I felt went to the IS300. Reliability couldnt say as I didnt keep it long and went to a 350z and at the time the wife had a Honda s2000.
