08 Coupe rpm drops

Hey guys, I have the 08 g37s coupe auto , with about 78k and I'm having occasional rpm drops. I idle at 650 maybe 700 and it sometimes dips below 600. I'm thinking it might need a tune up. Any ideas as to why this might be happening?

Could be a lot of things. I've seen some people clean their throttle body with zero results. Could also be an O2 sensor going bad. As a temp fix, you can reset your ECU and see if that helps.

I dunno but I'll give it a try. It does this when I come to a stop from driving. With or without ac. When it idles it stays strong.

Yep, I have the exact same issue with my 08 at 83K. Started happening around 60K and with or without A/C, although it seems to be more prevalent when the A/C is on. I've also had a few cases (maybe 6 occurrences) where I start the car and the RPM drops so low that the engine chokes and shuts off. I would have to give it some gas to prevent it from happening and the car would be fine after that.

If you do end up cleaning your throttle body or changing an O2 sensor, let me know how it pans out.

Thanks for all the input. I haven't been able to do them just yet. Waiting for a day off or two. I haven't gotten to the point of it Just cutting off. I do have to say though when it dipped down today, gave it some gas and it made a sound kinda like a clunk almost.

I will try getting to them tomorrow if I have a chance.

I haven't tried cleaning yet since I've been working, 6 day stretch OT!! I did try the ECU reset and it didn't do anything. I notice when after starting the car, it drops down low then picks up normally; but not to the point where it's gonna choke. I should record a video of it and post it for you guys to see. I think that would help explaining a bit better.

I had the same issue in my 08 coupe at around 75k miles. Pulled the throttle bodies and did the full clean on them. I was amazed at the crap that came out. I took it to my mechanic and bought him a six pack of beer to reset the ECU the easy way and we also did the idle air volume relearn. My car runs SO much better.

Currently have 85k miles and just ran a service called a "Terraclean" on my car which basically amounts to a fuel injector and combustion chamber cleaning and now the car really runs well. No more rough idle or dips.

Good luck.

Thanks for that info, I'm having the same issue with mine. I don't suppose you have a DYI thread for cleaning throttle bodies do you? Or know of one?

Thanks
