How much should it cost to replace the smart key ?

I lost one of my 2 keys for the G, the infiniti dealer wants $118 for labour (1 hr) + $35 for fob + $35 for cutting the key.
.
i then called a nissan dealership and they want $179 for labour (1.5 hr) + $35 for fob and $35 for cutting the key.
.
i am shocked by the pricing to replace a damn key, so maybe you guys can tell me what a fair / right price is.

.btw. add 13% tax to the above prices !!!

Yeah... It's pricey.. Should it be? No, but they can charge it. That's actually a decent price I think. I'm surprised the fob is only $35.

I was thinking the same thing about the key fob price. Thats not bad at all.

My F150 key costs around 300 bucks because of that theft deterrent chip built into it. $178 plus tax from Infiniti is not a bad deal.

you ca get ur key cut at home depot for like $2..then it only takes $10 minutes or so to reprogram another fob to your car... my old G35 they reprogrammed a key for me and didnt even charge me...i would buy a fob and have a key cut somewhere and then take it to the dealer and tell them your fob isnt working...try that homie

That sounds very decent to me...I called the dealer to ask about getting my key programmed if i were to buy the fob and key elsewhere and was told, $106...and $350 to get the whole thing at the dealership

Decent price from dealership..... Not bad at all. Yep, they'll charge you an arm and a leg for it but it can be much worse than what you listed...

he gets the new key fob and programs and replaces the old g35 ones... hit him up he might be able to help you..

Hey Vince, I'm a sales consultant at Centre Honda in downtown Toronto. For a Civic, a key replacement costs about $120 Cdn, since the G37's smart key is way cooler & "smarter", I'd say that price doesn't sound too bad.

FYI the cost of keys and labor rates will be different depending on you location and you local dealer's labor rate as well as their mark-up on parts. That's actually not a bad price !!

I was quoted $400 today from my local dealer!!!!

Found an 07-09 Infinity uncut keyfob on ebay for $43 shipped to my house. Good friend is a locksmith and will cut the key for me and it looks like there are tutorials online to reprogram!

each key is registered to the car, the computer system at the dealership can tell easily which the previous registered key was.

its impossible to program it yourself. it was possible with the g35, but not the same with the g37
