New G37 owner here. She's an '08 and I have no idea about how she was taken care of before I bought her. There are some slight swirls and scratches, probably due to improper washing methods. Since received, I have done nothing but proper foam cannon, two bucket washes, and a single coating of CG Black Light/Hybrid V7 a month ago just for grins. I also powder coated the wheels last week. Now, I have finally decided to do some mild paint correction and a proper detail. Here is my plan (for the exterior only). Let me know if this seems like a good plan and where I should possibly tweak it. All products mentioned in this plan already exist in my garage, so that is why I chose them. I have others I can substitute if needed.

Wash - Foam Cannon, Two-Bucket, Chemical Guys Citrus Wash (1 oz per gallon to strip old wax)
Seal Wheels - CarPro Hydro2
Dry - Waffle Weave / Leaf Blower
Clay - Mothers California clay bars with CG Clay Luber
Polish - Meguiars M205 Ultra Finishing Polish using Porter-Cable 7424XP
Seal - Liquid Glass x 2 coats
Wax/Sealant - CG Black Light (by hand)
Detailer - Ride Shine or Hybrid V7
Trim/Tires - CG New Car High Shine Dressing

A recent pic is attached. As you can see, the paint is in pretty good shape. Is the idea of polishing it overkill? Also, a pic from this morning where you can tell the original coat of Black Light is still causing the water to bead up. I just checked and I applied the BL on April 16th. Anyway, I'd like to hear your thoughts on my plan. Thanks!

Never a overkill to polish it. If you were to do a three stage polish then maybe overkill. But one stage should be good enough. Just be aware black paint is easy to get marring . Let us know how it goes

Well, as it turns out, my G needed more paint correction that I initially thought, so I ended up doing a 2 step polish. The steps I went with were as follows:

Wash - Foam Cannon, Two-Bucket, Chemical Guys Citrus Wash (1 oz per gallon to strip old wax)
Seal Wheels - CarPro Hydro2
Dry - Waffle Weave / Leaf Blower
Clay - Mothers California clay bars with CG Clay Luber (Also used a synthetic clay towel)
Polish - Meguiars Ultimate Compound on CG Orange Hex Logic Pad followed by M205 Ultra Finishing Polish on CG White Pad using Porter-Cable 7424XP
Seal - Liquid Glass x 2 coats
Seal - Blackfire Crystal Seal (probably overkill, but its so easy to apply)
Wax - CG Butter Wet Wax
Detailer - Final Wipedown with CG Hybrid V7
Exhaust Tips - Eagle One Nevr-Dull
Trim - 303 Aerospace Protectant
Tires - Griot's Garage Tire Dressing

I intended to use some CG Black Light, but I already had done two layers of Liquid Glass before I remembered, and ideally I probably should have done the Black Light before the LG as a glaze, so I figured it can wait till next time. I also decided to debadge the "INFINITI" letters off the trunk. Made it easier to polish/wax. The paint is now about 95% correct and there is not much better than a perfect OB vehicle.

Thanks Kenny. The UPS guys stopped by the house yesterday... I assumed to deliver a package. Nope. He wanted to ask where I got my car detailed. He was quite impressed that I did it myself. It definitely doesn't look like an 8 year old car.

I only took 2 before shots, mainly b/c I wanted to have pics of one spot that has loose leather and see if I can tighten it up (tried steaming hot hand towels). The rejuvinator is soaking in now. I'll probably let it sit till Sunday and then post the before/after pics.

Curious with the Liquid Glass if you let the car bake out in the sun for 2-4 hours prior to the next coat? I think thats what I recall reading on the can (the LG can and not the other can )

I let the first coat bake in the sun about 4 hours, and then the next day I did another coat and let it back for 8-10 hours. But yeah, the longer it bakes, the better for LG.

Well I kinda forgot about this one until now. I've been travelling for business. Regardless, I let the Rejuvenator soak for over 24 hours, and then proceeded to clean it off with the Prestine Clean as directed. I can say this, I was expecting it to do more than it did. Maybe my leather was just not as bad off as some others that rave on the results of Leatherique. It certainly got the seats much cleaner, but I feel like I could have gotten similar results from the Chemical Guys leather cleaner/conditioner I've used in the past and I could have done the entire interior in 30 minutes instead of letting it sit 24+ hours. Regardless, here are a couple before/after shots. I didn't take many before pics (just the 1st two), so I am only posting comparable "after" pics.

I'd say that this was a a success! If you look at the difference between the first and last picture, the stretched leather shrank back to size and the dimple isn't as noticeable.

Next time, I advise you to wrap the seat in a trash bag and let the leather sweat for at least 24 hours in the sun. Nevertheless, well done!
