How come I've never seen these kind of thread??
There's probably 90% of the people who changed their rims are running wide rims/tires.
Such as 19X8.5 front and 19X10.5 in the rear. I m rubbing something everytime i go down on up a steep slope!! Tires are 245 front and 275 rear. You guys seem to be all doing well as i've never seen people posting things like that. I bought the rim used, didn't get to ask about the offsets. But overall, yes, it's rubbing. I m running on stock suspension btw. What I can think of, is that the tires are rubbing against the quarter panel and rear bumper tab area. Not sure if its' a good idea to cut that piece off tho. I didn't want to go negative camber much nor do I want to roll fenders and stuff. I m planning to get stiff coils next. (Get rid of the wheel gap), and to stiffer up the dampness. But here's another question, its logical to think that, if i lower more, it's going to rub EVEN more right? What do you guys doo?? Thanks. |
no it will camber in
|
what kind of wheels are they? Sometimes the offsets is posted in the inside of the wheel. When your car is at stock height ur wheels are like | | then when you lower it they go / \ depending how much u lower it
|
When i mount the rims/tires on the car, one of them, i did try looking for the offset number but fail to locate it.
It's Advan RZ-DF's.. . |
Cut the fender liner and shave that bumper bracket to just the bolt that will most Likely solve your problem unless your running a fat tire
|
It was a very bad idea to buy wheels without knowing the offsets. That makes a big difference
|
^^^^^ oh well.. The set of wheels was previously on a G37 too.
He'll be helping me to figure out how it goes tho.. but i still want to ask around about this.. |
yeah but if he was dropped/aligned ANY differently than you, then you will run into exactly the problems you are having. there are a lot of factors that go into the suspension/wheel settings

He has the bumper with lip molded on it, which i like it too.. If not, i'll probably will go with what doggy mentioned, cut liner and do something to that tab area.. Btw, don't think i mentioned this, but i m rubbing at the rear only. Front's good. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...g/DSCN3638.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...g/DSCN3637.jpg forgive the gap that i have on my side skirt.. Fitment didn't go well with that AIT kit. Not sure if it matters to say who i bought this wheels from tho.. lol. You guys all know him. But yeah, he's helpful enough. Wanted to get more opinions from everyone. |
That doesn't look bad at all. starting by working witht he rear bumper bracket, shave the plastic tab about 3-4mm towards the bolt, and use a hammer to bang the metal tab upwards, that will fix a majority of your problem.
|
Just shave the bracket and cut the liner like i said and I guarantee no more rubbing, the liner can be cut with a razor blade, the bracket u need to jack the car up and do it with a dremel.
|
itll be worth it after your lowered. those rims are fire!
|
And so, i took off the wheel, and with that bolt area (metal), i bent it upwards quite a bit.
Tried it once i m done, went down the slope that i rub, Fine. Went up the slope again, Fine. And when i went down again, it rubbed. == didn't want to cut that thing off, since i don't feel good about destroying things. lol |
and btw, the offset for the rear's 25. Saw it when i took off the wheel.
|
are u planning on lowering ur car?
