Atlanta G's Facebook Group
Atlanta G's Facebook Group
Hey guys, I've noticed this sub-forum is pretty quiet. Usually if somebody posts something most people won't reply or it'll take quiet a while for a response to pop up. I made a Facebook group a few months ago because the Southeast subforum on G35Driver was completely dead.
I figured most people have a Facebook and anything on Facebook comes up with notifications and communication is instant. It's hard to miss out on any information, events, or general conversations. The use of Facebook is a ton easier to to communicate with local G guys in Georgia.
So far we have 41 "members" and we always get together for events such as Caffeine and Octane, VQFrenzy meets, and any other car event of interest or just get togethers to relax and have fun with people you've just met. All I'm trying to do with this group is just to reach out to all G owners (G35 or G37) and be able to network everybody so that we all don't feel so disconnected from other G owners. I've met some great guys through this and at least something to check out, and if it doesn't "fit your style" then you are able to leave the group any time. We do not discriminate or form any type of exclusivity aside from the "G" aspect.
If you're interested, please PM me your name used on your Facebook or the email your Facebook is registered to with a slightly description of your profile picture in case it is difficult to find you.
I've had some great times meeting new people with G's, and we encourage you to come out to any of the events that we attend. We also collaborate with 350 and 370 Z guys as well for the events. Hope to get to meet all you local G owners soon!

Perhaps, I just don't get it. Why are we going and creating something new when we have a clearly defined G club? Why not just try and build onto that where there are far more members than 41. The home is at VQFRENZY.com - Welcome to VQFRENZY!!!.
I guess I'll stay where my roots are at Frenzy. Have fun with your Facebook thing.
Peace.

Seriously though. Have fun with the Facebook thing.
I think if people are passionate and enthusiastic...they will find a way to be in contact. I will pass on Facebook thing as well.
I appreciate the OP's thinking and trying to do something though.

Fee for the Georgia G and Z club. Take a look at Frenzy and look at the threads a majority of sub-sections have no been updated in months and the most recent threads are usually from a month ago. A record attendance? Record attendance is not just having 10 more people lol, which i may say is people from the Facebook thing as well.

Agree it's not as active as this forum, but VQFrenzy is a small group of primarily Southeast enthusiasts. It's a close knit group of people.
Again, best of luck with your Facebook thing. Seems like you have a bunch of folks jumping on the bandwagon. I simply removed myself because I don't support it.

Definitely understand where you're coming from. It's all good. I'm not trying to recreate something new, it's just an alternative medium is all. For me, Facebook is a lot easier to connect with others and it is something that people tend to check quite often. So with that I figured having something within Facebook, it would be a lot more active.
Say for example I post in a "spotted" thread on G35Driver quite often and you will see that I will make several posts right after another with no response from any other person. Also I could make a post about events and typically, there will be very little response. I get the impression people aren't even looking or they stick to their "lurker" ways and the whole subforum is dead.
It's not a club or any type of competition as I still encourage people to look on the forums. Discussions about the forums are in the group, links are posted, etc. etc., so no way am I discouraging forums. It's just I find Facebook to have a better sense of urgency when it comes to communication.
So if anybody doesn't want to get involved, it's completely understandable. As long as we all get to get together at some of the events and have a great time, then

I joined the group, even though I don't live in the ATL. It is not a long drive for me, 6 hours, and seems like you all have a bunch of people. Plus my Mom used to live there and I like to go to a few places when I am in town.
