Buyer Beware Vendor List

I think it would be a good idea to sticky the growing list of shady vendors in order to help protect the community and new members from falling victim.

Since it would turn into a sh¡t show more than likely, maybe make it not open to posts, just a list only accessible to mods and maybe a description or example of why buyer should beware.

that is all.

maybe have explanations next to the vendor name or separate them into categories as far as why they are on the list to begin with.

Good idea, but most likely wont work at least reliably lol. Next thing you know we're gonna get people calling vendors out because their order is a day late, or they didn't call them back one time. lol There's alot of POS customers out there that want you to fvckin wipe their a$$ while you're at it when they buy something from you....But if there are legitimate cases i do feel they should be posted.

Maybe there should be an assigned moderator to review the case before a vendor gets added to this list????

^^ yea I agree.

I also feel that even if they are a paying vendor, if enough viable complaints are being reported they can be added to the list as a heads up that they tie up money, give false updates, emtpy promises, etc... Just because they pay a fee they shouldn't have a pass to rip off people or tie their money up for months. Sht if that's the case, who do I pay to become a vendor? I have a new hood I'm working on. Let me get my vendor status, and then do some group buys, and then flip that money on a prototype for something else while leaving everyone hanging

I think these are good suggestions. What has been proposed (not my original idea, someone else's) is to have it moderated. Complaints would have to be forwarded to the mods who would be able to post them and lock it to keep it from going way off topic, having insignificant stuff posted there to harm a vendor's reputation, and being post whored to death by people who have no actual complaints with the vendor. The issue with that as I see it, is that I doubt that everyone will trust the moderator's judgment and discretion and will complain of bias.

What do you think?

How about having a claims department like paypal does when you do a claim with them and they act as the middle man between the vendor and you

Neither IB nor the forum has any legal power to force any vendor to pay any claims. It would involve a lot more than I believe IB wants to get involved with because liability is involved. How do you force a vendor to pay a claim when they don't pay through IB? There is no way to enforce this.

Very good idea, however I'd like it to be discussed amongst Staff before it's implemented. Legitimate complaints like the ones voiced about HPAuto need to be heard by the members, but my big concern regarding a thread like this is that it will turn into a Vendor bashing thread. Sponsors pay a lot of money to advertise/sell their products here on the forum, and I would hate to see their names and reputations being questioned for illegitimate reasons. At the same time, we need to protect our members from potential scams and bad business practices, so a common ground will need to be established.

What if...

You created a thread or like a directory of all of the vendors on here and somehow made like a rating system..

1 - 5 stars. This way when people have good experiences they go on and put 4-5's bad obviously 1-2's and you would see a vendors reputation within the community.

No need to go into elaborate explanations and accusations.. A simple, functional way of seeing which vendors people have dealt with and liked?

Interesting idea. However if we did that, how would it be measured fairly? For example, if I rated a Sponsor a 1, how does anyone know if my 1 rating is legitimate or not? I could simply have a personal beef with the Sponsor in question. However this is implemented, it has to be done so that it's FAIR for both parties involved.

We already have iTrader. How many people actually use it? Write positive or negative comments?

I think that is kinda the point.. Why else would someone have a "personal beef" with a vendor, unless they were slighted in some way?

And not for nothing, but if enough people have positive things to say about a vendor then 1 person with a personal beef will not hurt their rating much if at all..

However if 30 people have personal beef's then you will see a bad rating, but if that many people are mad at a vendor obviously something is wrong?

I think it's full proof.. Not just because i thought of it..hehe

make a forum just for vendor feedback and have it heavily moded. One section per vendor. When someone deals with them they need to post their experience in that thread then lock it when they are done where only the vendor and the op can talk in it to avoid bashing, then its up to the members to decide who to go through since all the info is visible weather good or bad

ie..

amplified motorsports feedback

bought a rim great service thanks
andy- no problem thanks
closed

bought springs fast shipping
thanks
