The OEM grille, bottom bit is half black, half chrome. I chose not to paint that part.

Here are some pics. Like Hexotic said, it's half chrome and black. Basically mask off a straight line from one end to the other.

So i painted my grille today and i did all the prep work and everything right and this is the finish i got, so disappointed dont even know what happened i used the right paint and everything right, does anyone know how to fix this? The finish looks quite gritty and dusty but i made sure it was clean after i primed it. If not does anyone have a grille for sale i can buy? And is willing to ship to Australia?

Did you wet sand with 3000 grit afterwards? The wet sanding will knock that gritty look out.

Any clear coat?

Looks like poor can handling, and not wetting out your clearcoat layers. You're holding the spray can too far away, moving too fast, and not putting down enough paint. Just dusting the surface instead of doing wet coats.

Spray Max 2k - Highly recommended. You're not that far off. As Hex mentioned, slow down a little, Wet sand, Clear coat, light cut. Should get you close to what you're looking for

i was given the wrong paint i was given an epoxy paint cause apparently it was more durable and after i sprayed wax and grease remover on it, it started to peel off and bubble since it takes 7 days to cure im just in the process of removing the old paint its a hell of a job i might just buy the midnight grille instead but i cant find it anywhere that will ship to Australia would you know where i could get one?

Is your car white? I'm thinking about picking up a can of the Obsidian black or maybe the Malbec to do my grille.

If you want a midnight OEM grille, I'd make a WTB post in this forum. Mention that you are from the land down under and that will tell you which vendors will ship to you and which wont. You can also shop/compare quotes from those that will ship to you.

Still back and forth with that decision. I feel like all black will be too much of a gaping hole since the headlights are chrome and the fog light trim is chrome; so a bit of chrome in the grille is required to pull it together. I'm leaning towards all black with just the top and bottom pieces remaining chrome.

For the Black G, I personally like the all black with the chrome emblem. I think it's a very clean look without trying too hard.

This is why I put the emblemless grille I made away. The chrome headlights are too overpowering. Once they go black, then Ill consider going all black with the grille again.

Cant find a pic with the hood closed, but you get the point.

Compared to: (matte clearcoat on the black part of this one)

Fantastic execution on the emblem-less grille but I have to agree with the decision. The second picture ties the entire front fascia together and retains the 'executive' look of the G.
