1989 RX7 Convertible Turbo project car
So I'm selling my turbovert project to fund G parts. If you don't know much about RX7s, in the US they only came NA, with either 146 or 160 HP. The Turbo engine (200ish stock) takes the power to weight back to that of the light coupes. This project car needs some wrenching but no parts, some system checking since it's sat for some time, and should be in the 250HP range with the hybrid turbo and lightweight flywheel. If you know nothing about RX7s, either spend a day down the internet rabbit hole learning about S4/S5 FC3S cars, or move on - no hard feelings.
The good:
89 'vert chassis, black, still has NA motor and transmission.
88T2 hood
HKS sport springs
KYB AGX struts
custom exhaust using RB 2.5" downpipe and RB turbo muffler
S5T2 16" wheels (no caps)
S5 rear subframe with T2 diff (can't recall VLSD or clutch).
S5 S4 hybrid motor. S4 T2 core with S5 rotors. Newly added S5 front cover, metal thermostat housing, new water pump.
S5 exhaust manifold with T3/T4 hybrid.
S4 T2 transmission with ACT lite flywheel (think it's the prolite) and HD clutch.
New (when bought) leather seats and main top. Extra Targa panel.
More spares than I could fit in the garage.
Engine and transmission have been in the garage since removed.
I think I have an HKS EVC and turbo timer in it as well.
Also have parts to build a trailer hitch for it too.
The bad:
It's been sitting for 4+ years.
Engine needs S5 wiring harness installed (have it) and front cover bolts all torqued. Need someone that's current on their Rotary game to go over the entire car.
NA motor/trans and T2 motor/trans need to be swapped.
I've moved on and with full time job, kid, and house don't have the time for the RX7 anymore - I barely have time for oil changes for our DDs. I've got a shiat-ton of spares. Don't worry, I'm keeping the race motor and other race-car parts so when the kiddo is less time-intensive I can race FCs again.
I'm asking $3k for all of my turbo-vert related stuff. That's enough to engine swap, sell the NA core and trans, and have spares and some body parts for years to come.

Please PM me if interested.

Doesn't look quite as good right now - a foam sunshade disintegrated in the Charleston sun and there's fluff everywhere. But yeah, the new leather on the seats is nice and the rest of the interior is in decent shape. Outside needs a good compounding or maybe just a clay bar. Mechanicals need once-overed once the engine is swapped.
I hope someone is interested because A. it needs a good home and I'm not liable to have much more work time for it in the near future and B. I could use the money for that FI full exhaust for the sedan.

If I didn’t have a full time job, wife + kids, house, I’d be all over this, lol. Best of luck with sale, shouldn’t be on the market long, this is a great project car
