WTB: Instrument cluster (LEDs)
Category: Interior
Price: $0
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Location (State/Prov): AL
Item Condition: Used
(What I'm really seeking is OEM LEDs off the instrument cluster's circuit board, as I'm unsure what the true equivalent would be from digitkey.com. Checking here first before going the junkyard route.)

Yeah, that's a potential route I'm considering, but I really don't want brighter than stock, hence me seeking out the OEM LEDs (ideally from an instrument cluster that would just be thrown out anyway. The trade off of course is that those salvaged LEDs could burn out in the not to distant future, true.
A comment from Dan Holt's G37 Instrument Cluster Backlight LED Rework youtube video (watch?v=V1488VR0W6Y):
"The 160-2044-1-ND LEDs do work, but you have to solder these 2pin LEDs in where the originals were 4 pin. I initially didn't think this would work but it does. I went back and used these for all 30ish LEDs. They are still brighter than stock, but I'm happy with them."

If you are going through all the work to do this i would just replace all of them with the new LEDs - what if you do all this work and then the ones you didn't change burn out?
You can always just dim the cluster with those buttons on the site as well, and set it back to the regular brightness level.

True, you guys are right; I should at least look and confirm I'm not running at minimum brightness (since if I'm not, can I adjust it lower). Thanks for honing my thinking on this.
