I can't believe yours is valued at 6k on Carvana, that is laughable and also kind of sad. That's part of the reason it's maybe best to hold onto these cars because you'll never get their true value's worth out of them.
No issue on the work schedule as I fully understand. There are weeks where I am busy 12-13 hours a day then look up and its Friday. Its therapeutic sometimes to review the posts here and try to contribute amongst a group of like minded folks.

While I fully understand that our cars will never hold the same value with someone else as they do with us, there is also a gray area there which needs to be considered. For instance, a 150K mile 300ZX or S2000 that has been well maintained and tastefully modified is worth almost 3x what one with the same miles sells for that has been heavily used and modified. Question is, where does that crossover point take place where traditional depreciation models no longer work because the desirability of the car outweighs logical wear and tear (I believe there is a website that tracks this for Porsches).

Strange spot for me personally as I have never seen myself as a 2 car person, but to sell my existing whip for the equivalent of my annual Costco bill seems foolish. Easier to just buy a second ride on the cheap and start the journey over.

Been getting up to speed on the VR30DDTT, which is one helluva misunderstood motor, but many have rolled up their sleeves and actually found technical reasons for issues like the "porous block", which is BS and synonymous with "no idea and don't want to put any time into it".The good news is that all the talking heads repeating over and over what they read online about the motor has reset the resale value of something like a clean, low mileage CPO 2023-24 Redsport to under 35K. That's one helluva deal on a car that can easily hold ~450-500WHP of CA CARB legal mods.

Sure it's 14 years old, has 48k miles, and has been modified.

But it doesn't show its age, that's insanely low miles on a reliable platform, and the modifications are all top shelf and appropriate, well integrated as a daily driver.

Here's another way to look at it... what could you possibly purchase brand new for $23k that would be a more rewarding driving and ownership experience than this car?

My 2 cents. GLWS

Agree with your assessment and I always say the same on Reddit when users post a clean, unmolested G for sale in the 10-15K+ range with 1-2 owners and a cohesive story ("am I getting ripped off" posts). I've been offered in the 15-20K range for mine by strangers, my Cable and Vinyl guys. I don't want to sell because I cannot touch anything interesting with RWD unless I double that amount. It's a weird market now for Gs because the ones for sale seem to fall into the two ranges at different ends of the spectrum. On the upper end, the inventory is very low, but buyers use FB Marketplace pricing on the lower end to talk you down to the middle.

I would just stay the course as someone on the enthusiast side will come along and understand the value prop. Makes little sense to me to sell the car otherwise.

I wish there were cost effective storage options other than parking in the yard. I would buy a few more 6MT Sedan, Nismo Z and Red Sports if I could figure that out.

Yeah the market is definitely weird on these cars, especially the 6MTs. You can't find much that is comparable in the $20k price range. I guess if you're just looking for pure horsepower and RWD, you could grab an american muscle car, but they are a different category/class of car. If I can't get $22,900 for it, then I just won't sell it because it is a great car. I'm in the same boat as you, socketz, wishing I had a good storage option for it, but my only options are the driveway or yard unprotected. The 2 car garage is not enough.

Is it 2016?! This is almost the exact spec when I got my car 9 years ago—same year, color, transmission, price, and mileage. My car was less modified and less clean, though. Just thought it was a crazy coincidence. Very nice car OP. Good luck with whatever decision you make!

I found this place locally and kicked myself for not starting a business like this myself: https://www.analogandgrit.com/car-storage

Almost like Storage + Car Club with Community. I would just like to wander around inside and check out the cars. But at $500 a month, I cant justify. This is an excellent option though for all the Corp executives and social media moguls that live in downtown SD and own weekend collectible cars.

@Rochester Can you close this thread with the ability for it to be re-opened in the future? I am taking the car off the market for now. No real need to sell because there's nothing else out there I want right now. We replaced the wife's Cruze with a 2020 BMW X3 M40i with only 6k miles and that has scratched my car itch for something interesting to keep me happy for a while.

Also, I am starting to get this feeling that the value of a car like this, in its condition, will potentially rise as these cars continue to get thrashed and wrecked and get off the street. I have seen it happen with former cars that I have sold and then the value goes crazy years later and I wished I had held onto it.

I will let a mod know if I decide to re-open the FS thread. Thank you everyone for the kind gestures about the car.
