F'ing COPS

Ugh had to vent. Just got a ticket for suposedly doing 75 in a 45. I honestly wasnt doing that. I told him i really thought i was doing 55-60 and he was like you were doing 75. He def. didnt use his Radar because i have an Escort and it woudl have gone off. It was 3:30 am. Any suggstions guys? Should i plead guilty and make a deal with the judge or what?

terryw May 2, 2006 07:02 AM

damn i thought April was over.

since youre in maryland, id just try to goto court and plead guilty. they usually dont give you any points. however that worked for me when i went 20mph over the limit. I dont know if 30 mph makes a difference.

KlokDeezal May 2, 2006 07:38 AM

I have only gotten stopped once for speeding and I ALWAYS ask to see the radar/laser detector. Being it was only once, the cop showed me the detector and what he clocked me at as well. I would take it to court personally, cuz MD, DC and VA cops are shady in my opinion

brian2004 May 2, 2006 08:08 AM

I don't trust them .Hey if you are ever gonna speed don't do it at night .They are all out on radar patrol at night .I know @#$^@#.I stay off the little streets and back road just because of the very low 1940 speed limits. Go to court.I am. If you got escort it should have worked but instant on is a batch.

KlokDeezal May 2, 2006 08:17 AM

Well I was looking at a detector and I was doing a comparison and found that the Escort only has front detection not rear while the Bel RX65 has front and rear dectection. The V1 I have heard is really great. There is a new detector that is made by Bel and it is called the STI Driver and it cost about 450.00. Check out radar busters. This is suppose to be better than the V1:D

^most of those site are sales driven.....meaning trhey are sponsored by a name brand, then they over hype a detector. You can problably find 50 others that say Bel is the worst.

elau May 2, 2006 10:22 AM

Bel actually is the same as Escort. They were bought.

Back on the subject, go to court and ask for radar readout. If the pig can't produce one, you have a good chance having the case dropped. No proof, no guilt. Court of law can't go by what the cop says, he has to prove it. Whether the judge will side with the cop, it's another story. Regardless of what the peeps in CA said in other threads about how well the cop can visually judge speed, "he said, I said" just doesn't has a leg in court.

pdjafari May 2, 2006 10:23 AM

agree with eddie.....damn pigs....

pfizzle May 2, 2006 10:26 AM

I don't think you should be calling the cop a pig. Rather calling him a pig you should learn how to drive, going 10-20-30 doesn't justify the cop being a pig.

Some cops are pricks, and some aren't, in this case you were speeding therefore knowing the consequences. With that being said you should just plead guilty and hopefully you won't get the points.

I have an excort 8500x50 and I'm pretty sure it does detect rear, It is a 360 degree radar after all.
I just also got a ticket $323 which I'm definately taking to court. supoosely I was doing 86mph on a 55mph zone. The funny thing is that i was traveling west bound on the express way, and the cop was east bound on the other side. Supposely he radar me across five lanes of express way and a center divider, and was able to tell that the car that was doing 86mph was mine.....YEAH RIGHT...maybe if he had laser me I belive it.....He just got mad that a red G35 was whopping an EVO and a TransAM :D ......to top it off finally he pulls me over and the first thing he says: "ohh that, that you have right there ain't gonna work" and i'm like "what are you talking about", he says " the radar dectector" I just laugh and told him to give me the ticket.....Now he said that because when he gave me the ticket I saw that he was using a stalker radar (it works on K and Ka bands but on different frequencies).....I didnt know this at the moment, but I got home and I researched it. Well not all radar detectors detect wide frequencies (stalker radar) only the very good ones, and mine happends to be able to detect wide frequencies........So definately this moth**f***e* did'nt clocked me.....like I said he just got mad at the racing, and then tells me: take it to court and bring your lawyer becuase I'm going to make sure to be there so you get it this time........whatever dog......we'll see eachother at court.

The Moral of the story: no matter what, you always go to court and fight it, and if you can get a ticket attorney do so...it has always worked for me...

One more thing if you speed get a radar detector, it was saved me a bunch of times.

binar May 2, 2006 10:36 AM

Take it to court. I just went with my 17 year old son. He was looking at speeding, 30 over, and passing on a double yellow line. Through some creative arrangement with the DA he is getting two moving violations instead. Def. worth our time to show up in court.

TwiBlue May 2, 2006 10:36 AM

Its not a matter of if I was speeding or not. I was speeding. But I wasnt doing 30 over. I was really only doing 15 over and thats what pisses me off. I have no issues admitting I was wrong in the situation but It gets me annoyed when I cant argue how wrong I was. Its basically my word vs his word.

Cops take an oath when becoming an 'officer' aka PIG to uphold the law and always be honest and to help out any citizen in need of assistance. My problem with this is when they feel to be above the law and take matters into their own hands and feel as if they CAN do ANYTHING they want. This is a prime example..going 5-10 over...and for whatever reason you happen to be in the wrong place/wrong time and officer d1ckhead just feels the need to pull you over....and since he knows most ppl dont know jack about law/regulations/legal issues....he tosses a ticket for 30+ onto you knowing you will

1. either pay it and forget it
2. wont bother showing in court to fight it

this is called taking advantage of the power vested to the officer and taking advantage of citizens who dont know any better. it's all karma though, b/c one day officer PIG will pull over a lawyer who was doing nothing wrong and the state/county will get a$$ rammed b/c the lawyer DOES know his rights/local laws and will get the last laugh!!!

sorry 2 b biased...but i've been pulled over 4-5x this past month alone (after putting on the VOLKS, kit, drop, exhaust...) for NO reason....never got a ticket or anything. granted most cops think a 'hooked up' car just got out of a street race....i dont drive fast/crazy but simply cruise (as most of you guys know...i gave up the crazy act last year ;)). i dont speed, maaaybe 5 over...and dont drive crazy. just so happens no other cars are on the road and its late and i have a nice car (not 2 b cocky.. ) and after stating 'thought your tag lights were out'...or 'headlights looked slightly blue from behind' or even 'saw your turn signal wasnt working...'

i mean cmon....pretty soon im gonna get pulled over for not being 'cleanly shaven....'

Ok, take that f*ucker to court.. lol You will more than likely get the points removed, and just have to pay the fine.

pdjafari May 2, 2006 10:49 AM

my bad...one cop said 'i thought your turn signal wasnt working...' but noticed it was in your headlight...claiming our corner bulb is also a signal marker which we all know its not....
