    yo MR. D , goodmorning!

I`ve been reseaching on short ram intake and I ran ito this. It`s not that I doubt you or anything bro. It`s just we`re in hot weather most of the time here. here`s the story I found. But I`m still interested on the stillen intake you have.

Physically the difference are obvious, one is shorter than the other. The short ram intake is mostly used by drivers who dont see much track time, thus not creating (as much) power then the cold air. the short ram is easier to install, its usually just popped in replacing the stock filter box. Good for low end power.

The cold air intake uses a longer tube which runs to a spot usually behind a fender or bumper allowing all the outside cold air to enter the motor with out being affected by the hot air in the engine compartment. because the pipe is longer, it requires a longer time for the air to travel into the intake manifold, therefore giving you less low end power but better the top end usually 60mph +

as far as your hot day problem. it wont be solved by using a short ram, if any thing it will make it worse. my suggestion would be to stick with the cold air in the summers. this will allow as much cold air as possible to be sucked into the engine and leave the short ram for the winter. and the reason behind this is, because cold air intakes are known to suck in large amount of water (if its raining) and seizing your engine. and you dont want that.

it gets a little more complicated if your looking for power gains. but thats pretty much the basics of it.
