GTA newb here

I wanted to introduce myself and say what's up to the G community in Canada.

Right now, I am Just in the process of purchasing a 2010 g37x coupe in white with black interior and navi. So excited for the purchase and thinking of some mods already! Definitely need to lower it and put some nice 19" or 20" wheels on.

Previously I owned a Lexus IS300, in pearl white, actually I just sold her.

Where are you all from? I'm in Mississauga by square 1.

Hope to attend some meets in the future if there are any!

Welcome, it's pretty desolate around here during winter time, picks up around spring and meets start happening... There is someone on here that got their G from the states but I can't remember who, maybe they'll chime in soon! good luck with buy!

Welcome to the forum
Here's a link from E90 post which I stumbled upon when I was in the process of buying my bimmer although, I ended up buying a local one haha.
How to import a BMW into Canada without getting rear ended - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum - E90Post.com
It's pretty much the same process but I don't think you need the Recall Clearance Letter as Infiniti is not listed on RIV site. Just double check. Also, you wouldn't need the metric stickers as Infiniti always has US and metric units on speedometer.
Good luck with your import process..

The only guy I know who drives a US G37 is Thomas (Polar_G37s). Met him at one of the meets and I can't remember if he bought it locally or imported it himself. Maybe you can try him for some info!?

Its pretty straight forward just follow the direction on the RIV website. I had all the information written down in a notepad but I cant find it. I essentially went down there with a dealer plate(I fill in at a shop on the weekends) in a mega bus I got the dealer to pick me up from the station and take me down to the dealership. Once you have completed the transaction send all of the info to the US customs office(youll have to read up on what they need). Once you have sent it in drive down to the export office(I forget which bridge has the correct export office). Now when I drove my car back the fvking dealer forgot to give me my ownership I had a copy of it because that was one of the required paperwork to be sent to the export office. I get to the export office and they told me that If I cross over the border they will come to my house and impound my car. I decided to park it and wait on the scumbag dealer to ship me my ownership then go back. I parked my car headed back on the mega bus to go home, I got to the border and I didnt have my passport it was locked up in my car. I took local transit back to the airport, by this time it was already 7pm I was dealing with this crap since 8am. I decided to get into my car and just drive it into Canada, what could the US do to me im a Canadian citizen. I got to the border and told them my story and since the US customs office closes at 6pm they got the dealer to fax over the paperwork and I paid all my duties and taxes and headed home. All in all just remember to have all your paperwork, US customs are ****s, if you dont go to US customs and some how you get stopped in the states and your vin pops up in their data base your car is still registered as a US vehicle so they can still impound it. Once you bring the car to Ontario youll need to have a DRL module installed then you have to take it into canadian tire to get it ministry approved(you have drls, you have km/h etc...) I have an extra module if you need one let me know I can even install it if you want. If you have any questions feel free to PM me

Wow - You guys are super helpful!! Glad I joined. Thanks for all the info unknowndesi (lol) and Sunny. I ended up getting a Canadian vehicle! It just wasn't worth it to purchase from US for a few reasons. My deal is still tentative pending in person inspection. I'm driving to Ottawa on Sat to take a look and complete the deal if all goes smoothly!

Can you suggest anything obvious that you know has been problematic in 2010 x model that I should be aware of?

I was searching to see if I can play my iPhone 5 music thru the USB and looks like it works for most.

It's going to get warm soon, wheel shopping anyone? Lol.

^^ Infiniti in general is pretty reliable as per my experience with them since 2006.
Mind me asking the reason why you are going with AWD? Are you getting the base AWD or the "G37xS" model?
The only thing i have seen is that the X owners always are left behind on new product developments as a lot of the "common" first mod stuff doesn't fit. I guess you might not have that much of an issue now since there are a lot of mods available for the X variant.
How much mileage on the car? Did you ask for service records? I always get the VIN# and call Infiniti to see where the service was done. Then i call that dealer and ask if any major service was done and if the oil changes were regular etc etc. Major repairs history would tell you something about the car for sure, if any. The 2009+ models have the 7 speed automatic which is known to have flares between shifts and some 5 speed auto owners (pre '09) have proved that the new tranny is laggy. Although, AWD has a good launch if doing drags, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole on x-cross if, you are big on it.
You may wanna share the link to this car you are planning to buy so that people can give you their input on various factors like cost vs value.

^^^ I was going to get the AWD base model b/c xs is veryyyyy rare and hard to find + more $.
I wanted AWD because I have driven RWD car (Lexus IS300) for 5 yrs and want a car where I don't have to really maneuver and be strategic with when driving in the winter snow. Don't get me wrong I love the RWD feeling/fun and the features like a lower stance and paddle shifters in the g37s model, but I'm looking for AWD think time.

So I had a terrible experience this weekend.

Here is the link to the car I WAS GOING TO BUY: 2010 Infiniti G Coupe w/ Backup Camera

WARNING: Do not ever shop at 417 Infiniti Nissan in Ottawa. These ****ers are the most unprofessional STEALERship that I have ever dealt with.

For days, I was going back and forth with these idiotic sales people and got the price down to 28500 and this is for a car that I expected to be in the condition of the photos. I had asked them to send me additional pictures, of which, they only sent a few. I asked for pics of the chips they said was on the hood (to be expected) and apparently a "rust spot" from the brake dust on the rear bumper as well as the odometer reading. They only sent me a pics of the hood which looked normal in the photos to me.
I thought this was a pretty good price compared to everything I've seen out there, but I never imagined that these guys are crooks, especially it being an Infiniti dealership.

So, I got the service records emailed to me, as well as just a service record which says it was infiniti used certified (w/ 160 pt inspection), but not the official record of the certification. Additionally, they called me on Friday evening at 6PM when they were just closing to tell me I wouldn't be able to get the car on Sat because the car was in Nissan Canada's name and the Nissan head office was closed now so they could not register the car in my name. I was LIVID. I had been planning to buy this car, pending the in person inspection and that everything was how they said it would be with respect to the condition of a car with 40000Km on it. They tell me that the car is in Nissan Canada's name because it was bought off lease from QC. The funny thing tho is they had this car since August 2012! I talked to my friend who owns a Nissan and he told me that it doesn't make sense unless it was a recent purchase, they should have transferred the car to the dealerships name soon after they bought the vehicle. Long story short, I was to drive up on Sat, put my current plates on it and get it in writing from them what we were doing and they would send me the registration and title to car today.

Well, on Sat morning my boyfriend and I drove 4.5 hrs there to take a look at the car and it was in shtty condition. You would not be able to tell in the photos, but this car had paint chips on wheel well with rust starting already! Are they serious, a 2010 with rust?! Not to mention, the sales people were total a$$holes and they didn't seem to care about anything or care if they made a sale or not. Arrogantly, the salesman told me they would sell the car for much higher $ when the weather gets warmer. They didn't put much effort in considering it was going to be a 30K purchase for them! The seats were sooooooo wrinkled and leather was so damaged + scratches all over the silverish trim on the door and console. It looked like a vehicle with easy over 100000KM on it. I brought up my concerns to them and they told me that it was IMPOSSIBLE to roll back the odometer etc... Bull$hit. So, had no choice, there was no way I would sink 30K into some rust bucket piece of $hit. I walked away.

Just mad because it was money and time spent for no reason. Had the sales people been straight up about the condition of the car I would not have driving 5 hrs there and 5 hrs back to see it.

Seems nearly impossible to find 2010 G37x Coupe in White. This is what I want, but now, I'm starting to think maybe I should consider different colours just because its so rare!

i bought my '09 G37S 6MT sedan from the US. not because i wanted to, but because i had to. the selection of new or used 6MT sedans in Canada had dried up during the 6 months i was looking back in 2010. i did not do it to save money. i paid $26k for the car back in 2010, but landed in Vancouver i paid ~$35k. that included tax (12%), duty (6.1%), shipping, broker fee, and all the various border and inspection fees. i spent ~$3k on shipping and broker, so that was a big cost adder but the car was in Maryland and i was not about to drive 5000kms.

there is lots of info online about what is required for importing into Canada. i'm pretty sure the border service (CBSA) has links on their page somewhere.

while i had an importer handle the paperwork for me, i know it is no big deal. several colleagues of mine have imported on theri own. it's all about being 100% prepared before you arrive at the border.

Oh man, I was initially looking at a different G through that dealership (I still remember the salesman's name, Ali Baz). He took forever getting back to me with more info and then when he finally emailed me photos the leather and condition overall was not good. I told him I was no longer interested and his price was too high for that vehicle. Then he kept calling/emailing for a month afterwards everytime he got a new car to see if I was interested. Ugh...

And yes you're right, there are only ~10 37x white coupes in Ontario for sale...which is why I went with Slate Blue after couldn't find a perfect white one haha. Good luck though!
