I am considering importing in a 09 g37x from the USA. The saveings look to be quite good. But, I have questions for all of you that have done this process with a g37x recently.

What upgrades on the 09 models are needed to make it legal? My readings on the net look to be, JUST Daytime Running Lights.

Is the warranty still 100% covered in Canada?

Does the G37x have to pay any sort of gas guzzler tax in Canada?

Are people still getting hung up at the boader like they were a year ago?

What dealership did you buy from? what was the salesmans name? do you suggest this dealership? what did you pay?

What shipping company did you go with?

What broker company?

You won't save $. I keep getting many people saying the savings look good, but it seems they may've miscalculated.

I didn't even include the cash deal credit that you get in Canada, as US purchases must be paid in full upfront (but I read that US dealers can't give the $2000 cash deal credit to Cdns). I believe the current cash deal credit in Canada is $4000 before tax. Shipping will be at least $1000, & DRL $200. Add it all in & we're looking at a difference of $9000 before tax (meaning over $10000 tax in) in favour of buying Cdn vs import. I know US dealers will discount a bit more, but not enough to offset $10000 Cdn.

 

I was actully going to buy a slightly used G37x (under 10,000kms) in the USA. They start as low as 27k US. That i think is the ultimate savings route. Should hit me for 35k-36k at my door step. I will not be buying new in the USA, as I crunched the numbers as well... and it isnt worth it.

 

OH, and I am speaking of a sedan, not a coupe

 

A friend purchased a G35 Sedan from the US last year and the warranty was honored here in Canada. So unless something has changed since last year, you won't have any issues. Send a PM to Da Mayor (Kenny) as he is a VERY respectable salesperson at Infiniti of Massapequa in NY. He'll be able to find you the car that you are looking for and find any answers to your questions.

 

thanks! I've had Canadian customers before and i just need a full letter stating all recalls have been done (if applicable) to that vehicle and you will need to pay for the Daytime Running Light install (either from a dealer or vendor). Garnet Canuck where's the mods to the S2k?

 

I installed the trunk lid spoiler on the S2K today. More goodies are on the way.
