Coming from 80's cars, and getting back into 80's cars (got a free car): I just wanted to tell you current G owners, enjoy the plethora of parts now! Things that sell for dirt cheap now may sell for 6x the price in a matter of 10 years. If you have some less common parts, reconsider selling them at this time. If there is something for sale that you want, you never know when it will go out of production. I guess a major thing going for us is that G's were mass produced (compared to the cars I'm talking about), and that they share parts between platforms, however you really never know what will be a hot ticket item in the future. Also my fellow 6MT owners: If you think you might regret selling your rare 6MT Sedan, I would really sleep on that. They are still available now, but 10 years from now it will be near impossible without a big investment. Right now is a great time to be an owner modifying these, it truly is.

A simple set of window door trims are $400.

Might sound crazy, but I prob wouldn’t sell my car for the price I bought it new just about 10 years ago.

Mainly because whatever I’d want to replace it with would 1) be hard to find, 2) almost certainly result in several years of car payments, which I haven’t dealt with for about 7 years, and 3) be too nice to street park.

Agree that in 10 years from now, sport sedans with 6mt will be extinct. Maaaaybe a Nissan or BMW model or two will be hanging on for dear life. And most of the ones on the road will have gone through multiple owners, with the dings, tears and mechanical issues that go with that.

At this point, I’m kinda prepared to keep the G around for at least another 5 years, likely more if I can keep the issues at bay. Currently have a leaky firewall plug for my drive side sunroof drain…not fun

IDK about crazy, but it certainly isn't rational. And really, there's nothing wrong with that.

Your car new was what... $40K? Might not seem like a lot compared to today's crazy pricing, but it's easily 2x the FMV of your car.

Helps me out in one way.

The "good old days" were back when 99% of all car problems/ mods could be solved using simple hand tools with a little blood and sweat mixed in. Nowadays, you need a lab coat, a PhD in computer science, a small mint to afford all the "special/ proprietary" tools/ gizmos, and Uncle Sam's permission...

At least, with right to repair legislation that issue might not be forever. But then again, there's a push with the EPA to regulate emissions of race/track only cars... can't modify to increase power at all, per how they're reading the statutes. Even for off-road use.

I'll believe it when I see it in practice, but... the direction is there, and differing administrations aren't likely to give it a lot of attention.

Apples to oranges. I don't think that's remotely viable here. Reduction, yes. Also I feel like there will always be a place for hobbyist and collectors cars.

I really love cars, but I have zero fcks to give for the death of combustion engines.

I will miss the noise and fury. A Tesla haulin' *** just isn't the same visceral experience.

Oh well. I've got one last rotary in a crate in my garage; I can run it off pure alcohol if I have to LOL, and just grow corn. Maybe can even run it on biodiesel.
