G37 manual transmissions aren't the easiest
At one point I had the RJM pedal but don't know if I sold it or lost it BUT now I'm trying to teach my newly-temped son how to drive a stick. Unfortunately, the G37 isn't the most forgiving system especially when combined with a stage 2 clutch/flywheel.
Any suggestions? |
Get him an old civic or vw manual. Clutches light as a feather on those cars. Easy to learn & drive.
|
Hondas and VWs do have butter-smooth manuals. Unfortunately it's the G or Armada right now. I may buy my dad's old Camry but it's an auto but my son has to learn to drive a stick.

Rev it up till it goes bam bam bam then dump the clutch, for maximum respect.
|
Its one of those things where it may be a bit of a pain for him to learn on it, but if he can learn on a G then he should be able to drive most any other manual.
|
Don't know why you would remove the RJM pedal, but Jsolo's clutch spring is an easy mod that costs almost nothing. Give that a try.

It's pretty easy with RJM imo. I had to practice on my moms Corolla, that was unforgiving as hell!

I learned MT on a '74 Pinto Pony. It was like driving a lawnmower. A really crappy one, too. |

I learned manual on a Dodge Omni, then migrated to my Chevy Monza with a 4 speed Saginaw, I taught myself to speed shift on the Monza.

Agreed, still stall it sometimes.
Glad I learned on a Honda ('94 Integra)... |
I learned on a little isuzu 4 banger pickup truck. Had to, else i'd be out of a job at the time. Next was the 4th gen z28. Talk about a heavy truck like clutch. G37 is soft in comparison.

I learned on a 02 BMW M5, 400hp is probably the hardest thing to learn with. The G clutch was weird when I first got the car but was pretty simple to get the feel for imo
