Coolant leak

Just wanted to get some thoughts. I noticed the other day my coolant overflow was dry so I topped it off. My temp guage has never risen past middle and I have been doing a lot of driving in 80+ weather so nonoverheating issues. Today I noticed drips, the same clear FRESH coolant I put in, on my garage floor. I can see it dripping from the holes in the plastic cover under the engine bay when I look under the car.
I used a flashlight and couldn't see anything on any part of visable hoses or near where the water pump is. My guess is it is the overflow leaking somehow as it was the clear fresh antifreeze and the tank is dry again. Anyone have this issue?
I will be pulling the plastic cover off tonight and jacking it up to check and also removing the overflow to see if that's the issue. Where does the overflow relief hose drain too? Could it be boiling over and coming out?

thanks

what year is your car?

Also check your hoses...all of them...take off the engine cover and check the heater hoses at that back of you engine too....I have seen threads (and personally experienced) hose rot on this car especially as the 2nd gen G is now at the 10 year mark...some of the older ones used more plastic couplers and hoses to connect parts of the cooling system that also rot and leak and display the symptoms you have mentioned...

Hopefully it's not the water pump, like what happened with mine. Do a pressure test, from there you'll find out where its coming from.

If you can't see where it's leaking topside, you'll have to pull the plastic cover off the bottom. Grab a good flashlight and start checking anything coolant related. Probably a clamp some where.

Is the water pump is located behind the timing cover or is it external? How long did it take for you to replace it?

So..its the water pump and I cannot DIY on this one. A 10 hour job at the dealer. Wonderful. Question..if it's an internal water pump like this will it have cotaminated the oil and will I have to change the oil as well or is there seals to prevent this?

I haven't checked yet as it is at the dealer till tomorrow but was just wondering from those who have had this done. I would imagine the dealership would check for this as well but you never know.

Probably leaking from the "water pump weep hole". A water pump job is not an easy diy. I would definitely take to a professional.

Also had a water pump leak back in January. I noticed it when my engine temp gauge started getting unusually hot. There was also a slight humming noise as if the pump was damaged. I was leaking coolant from the bottom as you can see in the pictures. You can see where it was leaking from that green spot.

The water pump was around $80 but labor was $700 from a local shop.

All that oily residue was from a different issue. It's all clean now.

Seems like a common problem for the G. What mileage did yours go out at and what brand water pump did you buy. When I did mine it was at around 91k miles and I got that Aisin water pump.

Mine went out at ~130,000. I got it from the dealer so it was OEM from Nissan.
