How rare is the g37s 6 speed manual?
Anybody have any idea how rare it is? Thanks!
|
I have an idea, but nothing solid. The coupe 6mt is somewhere around 20-25% overall, and the sedan is closer to 5%. Or 0% for me when I was searching for 6 months back in 2010, at least in Canada. This includes the AWD models which of course are all slushboxes. I looked up as best I could a while back on cars.com to come to these numbers. It would be great to know year by year what the build quota was.
Edit: even better would be to know the breakdown on how many 6mt sedans were built for each color and option packages, like they seemed to track with the old muscle cars. I know I've never seen another blue slate 6mt g37 sedan around my area. I knew my first car, a used silver 2 door Jetta GLi (Jetta body on GLi guts) was 1/200 optioned how it was and only available in Canada for North America. |

Stick shifts popular again, despite lower gas mileage In '11, MT was 3.8% of vehicles sold. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infini...C_2006-2015.29 And according to Wikipedia, Infiniti sold 58,246 Gs in 2011 So 58,246 x 3.8% = 2212, and that would be total Gs--coupe, sedan, and convertible. I'd guess coupes would have the highest take rate on MT (say 50% of that 2212) and then another 10% for 'verts, so my guess, is 40% of that number is 6MTs or about 900 cars. Considering the G37 production numbers were pretty consistent, I'd say that guess covers all model years. It looks like MT might hit 6% of new vehicles in '14 https://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motora...194033483.html But sadly, neither the G nor the Q offer a three pedal option anymore  |
bout as rare as midget holding a $3 bill while sipping on somalian breast milk. I searched for close to 10 months, 4 different states, and never found anything that 10' and up. Finally settled for the 7at but has to be an S at least

When I got my G in August-12 there were three new 6MTs in the entire country. Black on black, black on black, and malbec black on black. Admittedly that is the model changeover time, but still.... |

Searched about 8 months last year before I bought my 09X.. HEY my auto isn't a slush box, LOL But again I never drive it in D. I'll let you know just how fast is shifts when a run my friends fully bolted and tuned 370Z 6 spd this spring :) |
I bought mine from Donohoo 3 years ago and a quick search shows they even have one right now.
Birmingham, AL 2013 Infiniti G37 Sport, Navigation, Sunroof, Heated Seats Used Sedan Montgomery, AL Pelham, AL DonohooAuto, LLC | 16828 | JN1CV6AP8DM302151 I personally think Nissan made a mistake having an "S" package on automatics. It should have been 6MT only. |
Back in late 2011, I started searching for a G37S 6MT Sedan, using AutoTrader.com and not caring where it was as long as it was in the lower 48 somewhere. At any point in time, there were only half a dozen available. It's certainly become easier to find one now, because it's been 4 years later. But of course, they will have all kinds of use and mileage on them. Anyway, back then it took me 3+ months of constant, daily searching to find the car I wanted, and I had to travel 400 miles to pick it up and drive it home.
Here's another perspective: ask your local Infiniti Service Department how many 6MT Sedans they service on a regular basis. I suspect the answer will be something like "two", or "none". :eek3: Yeah, it's rare. And it's totally worth it, IMO. |
I just picked up my 6MT sedan in October 2014, it took me 3months to find the one I wanted.
The biggest pain is dealers and carlots calling the trip-tronic G manual. At any given day on cars.com for eg. When searching with the manual transmission option 75% of the results was trip-tronic. You have to look at pictures. I've contacted so many lots and had then take a picture of the gear area to confirm. |

OP, take heed. |
If you are buying a new one, not rare at all. If the dealership you go to doesn't have one in stock that you like, and they can't find a suitable one to ship from another dealership, you can order a new one from the factory. That's how I bought mine in 07. I was told it would take 6 to 8 weeks. I believe it came in 4 or 5.
If you're only considering used, good luck. You won't find many at all and probably not a single one that's exactly what you want. |

Also. Don't worry about buying one out of state.
You can use a nearby shop for pre-purchase inspection, normally around $100 then when you do find one shipping isn't that expensive. Goto Uship.com and find someone with great reviews. Also great to still have factory warrenty. |

That is exactly right. Flappy paddles and a slapstick are always misrepresented as a manual transmission. It's really, really annoying.
