cooled seat swap

Anyone successfully transplanted the cooled Vert seats into their G? What parts are needed and what wiring changes would be needed to make the tweeters in the headrest work?

my guess is no. it would be extremely expensive to do and would probably require splicing and wiring in custom relays.

From my experience swapping seats on the G37, most of the brains that operate the seat are actually mounted on the seat itself. This would mean you only have to wire it properly (possibly harness swaps, maybe a direct plug and play) for all of the features to work. You do not need to rely on the car's computer "knowing" what seats it has to operate. An example is, I swapped in sport seats and all of the air bolsters and features work fine, even though the seats I took out did not have these features. This install was also plug and play, even though there were several features added.

The one possible hurdle is mounting the seats to the car. You need to verify (can be done through pictures) that the mounting points are the same for the seats you are swapping in. You can do a similar test for the plugs. Many times, manufacturers use the same harnesses for ease of manufacturing and just leave pins disconnected for features that do not exist.

Good luck!

Here are some pictures of the bottom of controvertible seats. I'm 98% sure they are cooled and 100% sure they are red.

Those look nice but no where near as comfortable as my sport seats. I miss the cooled seats in my IS 350 all the time.

when I was test driving, there was a big difference between the standard seats and the sports. I would've chosen the Sport for the seats alone. Cooled seats sound great in theory, but are not necessarily the cats' meow in practice. I want cold *** (pun intended) air blowing there...not sorta not hot air.

For me, Sport Seats > Cooled Standard Seats

I think this would be a Really cool mod

But you would also need to get new air seat controllers too, right?
Being that the Coupe only has a heat setting and the Vert has a dual switch heat and air.

Leather is NOT standard on the Q50. I had a 44K loaner with leatherette. Granted it felt good, but really? No leather?

I should have clarified. I was noting that leather wasn't standard on the new Q50 when the comment was made that the Q50 doesn't have cooled seats. Two omissions that make no sense to me.

I am with you. How can you tell the difference between the leather and leatherette?
