You probably need a new motor. Sucks.

Your car went into limp mode. As to why, hard to say without knowing the codes stored in the ECU. If you can get the car to an auto parts store, they have ODBC readers that scan for codes, usually for free.

As for the water, they probably meant water ON the engine, not in it. This can cause spark misfires or weird sensor outputs. Take off the engine cover and check for water around the spark plugs as a start.

I see. I also recall them saying that there may have been moisture that got into the dash, could this be another lead? After doing research, others say that moisture may have gotten into their dash and onto their fuses, but those are other makes/ models. They state after restarting the battery and giving it a few days, it all went back to normal. Do you think this may be a cause?

Nicely done, Super Moderator.

mvx, they paid for your Lyft, and you've got the possibility dangling out there that your car might be OK in the morning. Whatever the explanation understood or mangled, go into this tomorrow hoping your car runs fine. Deal with it then. Anyway, sounds like a horribly frustrating experience.

So I got back from the place and everything is back to normal! My car runs as it did before and the lights are now gone. Looks like any moisture may have been dried up at this point. I had a freakout, but thankfully it all turned out okay, even though it was basically a whole day of frustration. Thanks for the input guys!

And upon rereading the post, I see I misunderstood what had been done to the car. Winshield tint. Water behind the dashboard. Yeah, nothing to do with the engine, though wetting the wiring harness and a connector or three could really confuse the ECU.

Regardless, all's well that ends well.

It's called Air 80, not necessarily a tint but more of a protection film for further UV protection and heat reduction. It's actually quite clear.

If my morning coffee didn't wake me up... this sure did.

Ferrari / Viper had me stumped.

You just replied to a comment I made 5 years ago to another member who passed away 3 years ago. In the realm of comments out-of-context to the running conversation, that's pretty amazing.
