Yes, that is correct. I was just adding in my anecdotal experience using Amsoil, however, I have had valve tick early on in ownership of my G but I don't hear it anymore.

Whoa Motul 8100 for 39.00 is a steal man. The dealership is giving it to you cheaper than when we buy it direct from a reseller. That's impressive. I paid about $55 for a 5Liter Jug.

Amazon has two Purolator Pureone for $9.48.
If you have Amazon Prime, then it's free 2-day shipping.
Or, you can buy 3 sets and get free standard shipping. No tax for Californians by the way.

And if u have them ship it, its like another 12.00 so the price is pretty good.

I don't know if I mentioned this but napa has 40% off all filters. My wix was only 5.00

Awesome price on amazon!

I am strongly considering Pennzoil Ultra for my next oil change with M1 filter. I think Pennzoil Ultra may be the best oil for the money for our VQs since it has a strong ester base and doesn't carry as hefty of a price as Motul/Redline. I really liked the way the Motul 8100 ran in the car but it's a little steep $$$ when shipped to my house, and my dealership only carries Mobil1.

I did a change with Penn Ultra this weekend. I thought it would get rid of the valve noise at start up, but I still have the valve noise. Little disappointed.

Walmart was out of Mobil1 at two locations so I ended up getting Pennzoil Ultra and changed my oil a few days ago.

According to the Pennzoil Ultra FAQ on BITOG (posted on March 18th), there are no esters in the base.
14. Has Pennzoil® incorporated any type of Esters into the base oil blend for Pennzoil Ultra™?
No ester base oils were used or are required in the Pennzoil Ultra™ range.

That's interesting. Thanks for the info. When they say "base oil blend," does that exclude the additive package? In other words, are they saying there aren't any esters at all, or just there are none in the Base oil and they're not telling whats in the additives? This is confusing; they're being coy.

Lol though -- they wrote that exact question and answer twice on that page. I guess they thought it was really important.

That is precisely the filter I use in my '08 CBR 1000RR...if i recall off hand it's the PL14612 (the shorter one). Coincidentally the G37X uses the exact same filter. My '05 Xterra uses the PL14610 which is pretty much the identical filter expcept it's about 1/2" longer. I'm considering using the same one in the G because the longer filter (presumably) would have a little more filter media inside- everythnig else should be identical, unless there's fitment issues- who know.

Checked on Amazon, and they actually say the longer PL14610 is the one to use for the G. But when I enter in that the G is an x... it says that filter won't work. D'oh.

My Maxima uses the PL14612. Well... my "old" Maxima. I just traded it in for a G sedan. lol

I was wondering if all Japanese cars used the same oil filter or something. Our Mazda Protege uses the same one as the G37!!
