G37 High Frequency Pitch

Can we confirm from the 'Fixed' users on what part numbers their ECM/ECU is?
And also what car/year/transmission. ECM/ECU part may differ dependent upon w/Technology package and/or auto or manual transmission.

I had mine replaced by Infiniti based on part number 23710-JK73D and my noise remains.

However, I have noticed several users with success on the fix based on part numbers and users who had it replaced.

23710-1ND6C - beerme986 - SUCCESS
23710-JU60C - t8er - SUCCESS
23710-1ND9C - CuthGood130 - SUCCESS

23710-JK73D - weiRdwei - FAILED

I have a G37 08 coupe automatic sport w/o technology pack.
ECM/ECU number 23710-JK73D replaced.
Noise remains!

Please check your paper work for the ECU/ECM replacement as it lists what part number was ordered and installed.
I hope my gathering of information helps those with this noise problem.
Bring the different ECU/ECM part numbers to your dealer and let them know which ones work!

I think I'm going to bring my laptop next time. If you record your car running, you can filter out the high pitch noise in GarageBand using a Parametric Equalizer. Just set the Frequency to 10kHz, the gain to -20dB, and the Q to 20. You can also isolate the high pitch noise with a high pass filter at around 9.5kHz. I'm hoping these audio samples will draw attention to what they should be listening for.
HA! If only I 'd thought to do that!!! I bought a 39.00 iPhone app used by music pros to perform frequency spectrum analysis in order to diagnose and show to the service department. I was able to pinpoint the noise at right around 9950 hz. Once you boosted the input level by 20-30db, and narrowed the frequency band to that area, I was able to get a big fat peak many DB higher than the surrounding ambient noise to show to the service guys - my analysis showed lots of engine noise around 100-1000db, then nothing basically, then BAM! a huge peak at 9950. then nothing again, so it was real obvious, and I could recreate the data in real-time with my phone at the dealer - it was hard to argue while watching the spectrum analyzer live and in action, showing the peak going up and down as I revved above 1500, and then back down again.

I also insisted that they give me a tech who was young, and hadn't had his ears blown out by years of service bay work - he heard it right off the bat, and confirmed with the service advisor. I received no grief from anybody on this fix, and I think I was one of the first ones to get it. I am still whine -free a year or more later, although I get a crazy shriek from the ECU at redline, lol, but that I don't mind - it's probably a protest scream from my car, lol.

You should try posting in the regional section as well. Infiniti of Englewood in NJ fixed my issue, and it only took 2 visits.

Just took my 2009 G37x in for the whine noise. They told me it was "normal" noise from the throttle bodies and I was able to hear it because I had my front windshield replaced... Seperate issue was the engine knock noise, which only occured when the car was warmed up. They told me it was my radar detector. This is autoplace infiniti in Buffalo, NY. Going to pick it up tomorrow... We will see what they say when I show them the noise.

The dealer agreed to perform the tsb for the engine knock after much duress and phone calls to infiniti.. The tech said the two noises were related, which i highly doubt. Ill repost an about a week when the new short block is installed.

I learned to live with it, I tried to get them fix it but the tech said he couldn't hear it so it was a failed attempt...

I noticed that Tire Rack asks you if your car was made before or after March of 2010. I assume there was a running change of some sort. Wonder if this was it given the timing of the start of this thread?

My car is a 2010 built in April 2010 bought used a few weeks ago. My hearing sucks, but my wife and kids have never complained about it.

I could be just a bad lot of capacitors or transformers in the ECU.

Im pretty positive they ask for the build because the tpms operate on different frequencies.

Replaced my ECM with part # 23710-JU60C. This resolved my noise. It took me about 6 trips to the dealer to fix this. I ended up taking it to a different dealer about an hour away (Dorschel in Rochester) who were able to fix the noise on the second try. I highly recomend Dorschel for service.

If people get the that code after an ECM replacement. There is a reflash to make it go away. I believe I posted the details of it somewhere in this thread
