can anyone give me list of coupes out there that is worth replacing the coupe with that doesnt have an internal clutch? or if not, list cars that you know that do have an internal clutch. ?

also im thinking about picking up a car from the 90s that would be cool to kinda modify but keep stock like a first gen solara with a trd kit or something. ive always liked that car.

a 911 turbo was a contender before i bought my G37.

I looked at a '17 370Z a few weeks back because I was looking for something lighter to build on and a modern ecu.

It​​​​​ was a mixed experience. The car was surprisingly sedate and decently sound dampened as opposed to sounding like being in a tin can like some claim. The stock suspension tuning was completely underwhelming. I was hoping to feel how the 500lb difference would translate, but the suspension tuning gap was was wide between the two cars. In the end I passed because the incremental cost was simply not worth what Nissan wants.

Also looked at the Q60RS. It's a gorgeous car. For me it's held back by the driverain and old nissan FM platform. I just can't do an automatic much less a torque converter auto.

If I were to move on, I'd look for a Mustang GT, M235i, M2, or a Cayman as a daily. Every single one will be manual of course. I considered the toyobaru twins, but the asking prices for those things are not competitive and, a ton of work is needed to get them to a place that I would be happy.

I test drove an M235i hard (one of those BMW sponsored autocross events) and it's incredibly fun. It's the size of the old 3 series (E46 or thereabouts), and just as chuckable. If I were to get a BMW just for fun and not necessarily power, it would be that. Unless someone were to give me an M3.

^ agreed. many auto journalists also echo that the M235/M240 is the sweet spot for driving dynamics, power, etc, in the BMW lineup. the 4 series is a bloated pig these days.

Carbon brakes are noisy but I knew that going in since I have sim setup on track car. It is a heavy car though and steering feedback is numb compared to m3

^ agreed. I have a 15 year old Euro eco-car that makes me cry some nights.

The 987 Cayman would have the IMS issue, and the M3 would have rod bearing issues.

But hey, if reliability and engine tear downs aren't a concern in a decade old car, thats probably been beat on by numerous owners, it could be fun!

The RC-F would be fun though. I'd talk to 911 more about his experience with it.
