Can't find TPMS reset connector in 2011 vert
 

Hi guys,

Just bought a 2011 red G37s (6MT), and I'd like to reset the TPMS as well as find the error code. The light is always on when I turn the car on (does not blink, but just comes on after a second or two after starting and does not turn off). I have confirmed that all the tires are set to the correct psi level, and have driven for days like that without the light going off. I can only assume that either one of the TPMS sensors is not working, or that they are not registered correctly, or that the TPMS computer is not working? Whatever it is, I'd like to check it out before going to the dealer with it as every winter/fall I'll be swapping tires/rims out anyways and will want to reset the TPMS to the new sensors.

I read threads about resetting the TPMS, and that there is a white connector with a single wire underneath by the OBD-II connector/ where your left knee would be. I spent about 30 minutes yesterday looking for this connector and could not find even a hint of where it might be. I traced the wiring back from the OBD-II connector, feeling through the electrical tape for it, but no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas of where it might be? Are the pictures I've seen on the web for older convertibles and not applicable to mine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem with my 2012 sedan - looked for a long time, but never found the correct connector. I ended up calling a local tire place that said they'd charge me $20 to reset the TPMS. When I took it in, they got it done in a couple minutes and didn't charge me anything. Might be worth a try for you...

They didn't use that TPMS connector at all - they used a tool where they went around to the four wheels to learn the sensors and then plugged the tool into the OBD connector. I still have no idea where that TPMS connector is...maybe they changed the location after a certain model year?

Thanks. I'm going to try looking again, but this time see if I can somehow take the lower cowling off (the plastic cover under the steering wheel area) and look again. When I bought the car, the TPMS light was on, but the dealer said the tires were just filled and would go out after a bit of driving. That never happened. I went later to a local garage, and they put on my winter tires and reset the TPMS for the new sensors that came on the winter tire rims. That was ok for about 2 days, then the light came back on. So now I'm wondering what the TPMS is complaining about.

I may just go back to my local garage and have them swap out to the summer rims and have them check the problem/reset the TPMS. I just prefer to see for myself what the problem is so I can troubleshoot on my time instead of having to bus it to work while it's in the garage.

Go to your screen... our tpms is on there to reset... I had to do that when I changed wheels as well...
Ill look tomorrow and let you know how... takes a few min... its just letting the car know whats changed even the pressure ...
ill write in the morning or check your manual ...
The wire your talking about please dont mess with it... its in the right place to sense all the readouts from the TPMS. Moving it or tampering with it might make things worse...

I'm not sure what you're talking about. There is no "reset" on the nav screen, or center dash screen. The reset needs to be done by grounding a wire on a single pin connector somewhere under the driver side dash area, around the OBD connector. And I'm not messing with the TPMS antenna wire... that's completely different from the TPMS reset connector I'm talking about

EDIT: THIS IS NOT THE TPMS PLUG. APPARENTLY INFINITI REMOVED THE TPMS PLUG AND REPLACED WITH SOMETHING ELSE. DO NOT GROUND THIS WIRE, WILL BLOW FUSES.

that's not the wire I' just try it and I lost my power seat, mamory, insid light and power mirror. I have to go to the dealer to fix my car. It a G35XS 2012

I did the same thing - I grounded that connector and it messed up the interior lights, etc. Turned out I had blown a fuse and after I replaced it, everything worked fine. It's pretty easy to find and replace the fuse in the fuse box under the dash, and it might save you a trip to the dealer.

It's one of the fuses in the fuse box under the dash inside the car. I think it's labeled with something like "interior lighting" or "mirrors". On the cover of the fuse box, there's a list of what each fuse does. You should be able to figure out which one it is based on what's not working in the car.

When you pull out a fuse, they are transparent and you can tell whether they've been blown or not. The fuse has a "W" type element inside it which will be broken if the fuse is blown. Hope that helps!

Ok thank you. But it's the dealer that fine out the fuse for free but charge my $55 for the programation of the TPMS and he said it's have to be re-programe with my winter weel and each time I cont a change weel

If you have two sets of wheels, each with their own TPMS, then yes you will have to reprogram every time you change wheels (unless you want the TPMS warning light on). The car can only store 4 sensors at a time, so when you change wheels, the car has to learn the 4 new sensors.

I guess Infiniti/Nissan removed the TPMS plug. I dont know what the new plug does, but it is in the same location as the TPMS plug. Sorry for any inconvenience to anyone.

Has anyone had any luck locating a TPMS plug in 2011+ ?

I just made the mistake mentioned above and blew a fuse.
