Well the guys who installes my exhaust also were going to tune it. When they went to tune it, they found that the knock sensor was giving off very high knock. So he couldnt finish the tune. So that makes sense why my check engine light went on and i went into limp mode. Thanks for your help on that issue. Now i need help on why my knock sensor would give off that high of "ping". Like i said before it runs fine and sounds fine.
I had a similar issue with the knock threshold. As it turns out...my stillen gen 3's were making contact with the chassis. I actually removed my intakes and retuned the following week. The knock threshold held and the car stopped pulling timing!

I know this is an old thread but did you ever figure out what was causing the sensor to pick up knock. I have a similar issue right now. 94 octane, no timing or VVEL changes and AFR is 14.7 at idle and I randomly get values that don't fluctuate. They'll sit at something like 4400 for a bit then go back to 0 then go up to 12000 or more sit there for a bit then eventually go back to 0. I know it's not actual knock since there's no load at idle, AFR are correct, and timing and all that is stock. The engine is very quiet at idle as well, no noticeable vibrations, or things rubbing. I was going to replace the knock sensors but seeing as it didn't help you I'm hesitant to spend the money.

Ya... should have checked that lol thanks. We'll maybe someone else will have some insight. Not getting any CEL with this issue either... really is phantom knock and I can't pinpoint where it could be coming from.

thanks, checked that out a while ago. Nothing there has led me to a solution. It was doing this before and after my grounding kit and it is on the proper side of the current sensor. The car has only 32000 miles on it so i can't see carbon build up causing what I am seeing. what I'm seeing almost looks like bad shielding on the sensor cable. I'll get values that are static and they don't really change even once the car is at a stop and just idling. However once the car is turned of and restarted the value returns back to 0... its very strange. I'm at the point now where inspecting the sensors and cabling are my options. I've even tried pulling the timing and it made no difference at all.
