What is 0-60 restriction?
So I got the hypertech set today and car does remove some throttle lag and more responsible but I have been hearing the 0-60 rest but I can't feel the difference what is this feature really?

uh...can you re-ask your question? are you talking about the throttle flaps? there's restriction when you go wot. the flaps only open up a maximum of 60% versus 100%. is that the restriction you're talking about? closer to redline, the flaps close back up to 40% for cautionary measures, obviously.

Read the description here in ampd's thread. Gives a good description of what it is

The throttle flaps stay at 60% max under 15 MPH. Thats all. Throttle doesnt close to 40% closer to redline, thats absurd. |
I heard/read about it a lot.. Had the Hypertech unit and took off the 0-60 throttle restriction for a while (+ used their performance tune mode). Butt-dyno thought it had better response but the real dyno disagreed in numbers.

@cereal2k: check out my thread on Hypertech.. my personal explanation on it is that their performance tune leaning out the car a bit in the process (as verified by one of their techs) causing me to run too lean with my mods on there.. AFR ~13's if I remember correctly.
Therefore, a stock G may get good results, mine, however, did not. |

I'm not familiar with the G's drive by wire but it's not absurd foe the throttle plate to close as much as < 40%. My old MS6 never opened past 75% and after 6000 rpm's the throttle would close to 40%. You could literally feel the car fall on its face after it hit 6000.

I feel constant power up till 7600 RPMs. My power falls off when the rev limiter kicks in... at 7600 RPMs!! Thats without the Hypertech. The G37 VQHR is throttle restricted under 15 MPH. |

But short answer is that the stock HPFP might not keep up at higher rpm's so Mazda set up the throttle to end the fun at around 5800 rpm's, you can actually see it in real time with a monitoring device like a MSD DashHawk. The only way around it is with a ECU flash from CP-E called full control. They worked really hard trying to crack the ECU to have the throttle open 100% all the way to redline. http://cp-e.com/content/mazdaspeed3-fullcontrol™-flash Also if you want a CAI for your MS6 lmk. I have one sitting around and will let it go fairly cheap. :) |
