future62's G37S build thread

Welp, gonna chronicle my build here. Looking to keep it very mild. This is my daily driver and I've learned a lot about what I do and DON'T want in one over the years. Gonna geek out a bit over everything though as that's my nature. Here she is:
Attachment 184226 7AT... first automatic car ever. I don't mind it but the responsiveness could be better. I have a lot of plans but I'm superstitious so I'll just post what I've done or have coming. Going to try and take pics and review each mod as well... when I do I will add a link to the post (not page- people run different pages per post) here. Done: Brakes (Centric blanks + Hawk HPSs) Tein Basis Z coilovers Z1 20mm spacers ESR SR07s (Store brand TE37s) + DWS06s Doing soon: Getting paint reconditioned (PO seemed to love drive through car washes. Awful) Thinking about: Exhaust Subwoofers |

So I JUST got the email for the tracking number.... estimated delivery is the 11th. I was really hoping to get it yesterday and put it together this weekend, but I got my Civic back so I can drive that to work and work on it during the week. Hoping the install goes smoothly; Civic install took forever. Gonna look sick

Cleaned up, evened out, spacer'd:
Attachment 184214 Attachment 184215 Attachment 184216 Attachment 184217 Attachment 184218 Attachment 184219 Really love the way the spacers fill things out. Also all these pics were taken with my Note 5... I'm impressed with the IQ (for this end use, haven't blown it up on the 4K monitor) Coilovers feel good, not great. Low speed motions are well controlled; no float whatsoever. But higher speed stuff is a bit... "busy". I can definitely see these getting a bit harsh once the weather cools and the shock oil thickens up. But I'm OK with it. Definitely going to get Konis one day. For <$500 they are a screaming deal. All the hardware and the like is high quality; adjusters turn nice and easy even while on the car, instructions were clear and very easy to follow. Z1 spacers really transformed the car's look. My only beef with them is you either need to get a thin shell 21mm socket or buy new nuts. I couldn't get the nuts they supplied or the OEM lugnuts to work. I picked up a set of open end bulge acorn nuts and they worked great for bolting the spacer to the hub: Not bad for $15. Torqued everything to 85 ft-lbs and was on my way. |
Looks good
Where in Charlotte are you? Might be interesting to do a Tein/Koni comparison.... |
I'm at the north tip of 485. I'd definitely be down for a comparison. I thought about getting springs but I'm too neurotic about ride height and spring rates.
Would also be a good comparison for tires... I'm on crappy Nexens the dealership put on; trying to see if the stock tire size will be enough or I need to go through with my plan for new + wider wheels. I had Nitto NT555s on my 350Z in 225/245 and still wanted more front end grip. It would wash out every now and then |
Looks good! I just picked up my G last weekend and I'm already ready to lower it. I had an 08 Altima SE sedan on KSport coilovers and I loved them. I'm thinking I may want a set for the G37. The wheel gap is driving me insane.
