JakeB's Build Thread

Hello everyone I've had my Athens Blue 08' G37s for around two years now & I'm still slowly modding it!
I thought I'd make a thread about it & get some opinions...
So first... the only picture I could find of the car fully stock

Attachment 145653

The first thing I did to the car was tint the windows as dark as legally possible

Attachment 145654

The next install was the custom box/subwoofer combo

Attachment 145656

After I installed the sub I put LEDs in my grille

Next up was to get my grille painted. Black with an athens blue logo

Attachment 145658

Next up was to get some sound out of her so I found a Megan Axle-Back exhaust for a good price. It sounded really nice!

After this I decided to get some wheels. After a while searching I stumbled upon MRR's Ground Force series. I love them!

Attachment 145661

After that I decided to go semi all-out & got both test pipes and a full OBX catback exhaust

Attachment 145662

Attachment 145663

Next up after this I tinted my tail lights (and installed the exhaust)

(the car is super dirty in that picture just FYI)

Lastly I got a good deal on Stillen Gen 3 intakes!

Upcoming mods: Lowering & Painted Headlights. Theres probably a few mods I forgot but I hope you like what I've done so far :)

Nice progression Jake! Be sure to change your lens to a TSX when you do your headlights, you'll be glad you did. Painting your calipers Athens blue would be a nice look too IMO. Keep up the good work!

Cool ride man. I ordered some led strips for inside my grill and they'll be here tomorrow for my install, I didn't know of anyone else who had done this yet. I did quite a bit of research and was wondering, do you have any problems with the blue lights as far as getting pulled over or police attention? As I understand it any blue or red light in the front or rear of the car is illegal in all states so I went with white. Thanks

Hey cecrops, I don't usually turn them off unless I'm leaving a party or trying to purposely draw attention to the car. (Car Meets in particular) But I've driven past a cop with them on before and she didn't pull me over or anything. I'm in South Florida so I don't know how cops are where you live but I personally don't like taking the risk of giving a cop a reason to ticket me...

Thanks for the feedback blnewt, I want to paint my calipers but I don't want to be without a car & I also don't know where to get that done! Also what does a TSX change? Not sure what that is in all honesty

Interesting, I'm guessing you meant you dont normally turn them on? how do you have it wired, just on and on/off switch? I was trying to figure out a way to make them turn on with my headlight so I was going to look for a fuse in my engine bay. I'm in west palm beach btw but I get enough attention as it is so didn't want any additional risks.

Also you should check out that thread you made when you first bought the OBX exhaust, people were eagerly awaiting your review :)

Nice Jake. I'm looking to do a similar build. I'm starting with the ipl kit but the black and blue look is where I'm going. Anyway keep it up Jake she is a sweet G.

It's the actual projector lens, the OEM lens is a fresnal which has little circles in the mold, if you look closely at the lens you'll see them. This causes distortion and a blurry cutoff. The TSX-R lens is crystal clear and when the lens is spaced a bit from the projector (it comes w/ spacers) the edge of the light gives off a blue flicker for a very nice upscale look and a razor sharp cutoff. The perfect lenses also look much better in the housing. Here's a couple links
