What fluid to use with AKEBONO bbk's?

Hello all,

I am picking up a used set of Akebono BBK's and plan to get them installed this Saturday. I just wanted to get some feedbacks from the guys w/ these BBK's.

What brake fluid are you guys using?
I was just planning picking up the OEM fluids from the dealers. I just wanted to see if there are better alternatives for the fluids.

Any help is appreciated.

You can buy more expensive high performance fluid like Motul RBF 600 but it will perform no better unless you are tracking your car. None. Buy any DOT 3 or 4 from the store and you'll be fine.

ON a side note, for those who have installed the akebono BBK after they got the car, will the dealer do the install and maintain the brakes warranty? I called 2 different dealers and was told one story, then the other.

Using Motul RBF 600.

Thanks for the info! I will be picking up some Nissan DOT 3 fluids today.

I would figure it would be a hit and miss thing. Most service advisors won't even notice them to be an added-on part since they come as OEM part on the coupes. So if you're lucky, shouldn't be a problem. However, that's one of the reasons why I waited til the end of my factory warranty period.

Can anyone confirm if 2 bottles is enough for a drain and fill?

Anyone use the regular Nissan DOT 3 fluids? That's what the dealership recommends.. I just want to know that they perform fine. Since I am getting them installed this Saturday, I don't have time to order the MOTUL fluids. No autostore carries them. It seems like they're only available online.

Well I can do the install except for the brake bleeding.

I live in Irvine but work in GG. Do you have some extra ones I can pick up?

You're not local bro. I already schedule the install at a local shop. Charging us 250 per car which is very reasonable.

I don't have any but I'm pretty sure if u call Lou at Amplified Motorsport he can definitely get u some before Saturday.

^ Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely keep that in mind, but most likely I will just pick up some OEM fluids this time. I have absolutely no time to make the trip to AMP this week.

Castrol LMA is a good over the counter fluid (Pep Boys here on the east coast carries it, I imagine other chain stores to as well)

Friend of mine uses it in his AutoX car, so it should be good for everyday use too.

Try Ferdie at South Coast Subaru, I think he stocks RBF600.
