After BBK Install, soft 2inches :D

Did bbk install today. Braking power is awesome compared to stock 2 cylinder calipers. Braking is very progressive, but brake pedal is not so hard as it used to be on initial brake press.

It is not spongy, just 1-2 inches are empty and then very linear brake feel.
Bleeded all in correct order, inner nipple first. Master cylinder never went dry during install/bleeding.

Any thoughts?

Rebleed it

I have the Akebonos. When bleeding the brakes, the pedal is rock hard and immediate. As soon as I turn on the car, the pedal has travel before retardation begins and some of the firmness is gone. The car stops just fine, though. It's been this way since new. Something designed in and I can only speculate as to why.

here is the thing, response of the pedal is little worse compared to original 2 cylinder calipers, but braking power and braking modulation is way better with Akebonos.. Just initial brake press is too soft.... Try to re-bleed later this week.

Remember that you're moving more fluid. Did you get the Akebono-specific master cylinder?

How many miles are on the car? Did you check condition of brake lines

It is a new car (15k miles), with new SS brake lines.

You got air in your lines still then or vacuum line on master cylinder is loose or bad

I hope so, but i don't believe so. Will try to bleed one more time...

You said your master cylinder never went dry, but do you recall how low it got during the fluid change?

You need to use a pressure bleeder if you can access to one

Quick update:

After additional 2X 500ml Motul 5.1 bleed, Problem fixed. 2 soft inches, became 2 hard inches.

Nothing like a little Viagra bleed to make things right :)

Glad it worked out!
