Brembo's on a G37 XS coupe

I have a 2012 Infiniti G37 XS coupe with the regular stock calipers and I am wondering if I am able to put Brembo front calipers and also rear calipers on the car? If the answer is yes where would be the best place to purchase them from.

There are several Infiniti’s that I have seen and have these nice silver calipers on the front and rears that are powder coated silver with the Infiniti logo on them. The dealer told me that they are Brembo calipers and can be put on my car? Is this true? This is what I wanted to do to my car but not sure if it’s possible? Maybe it’s not available and only on the sport version? Thanks for any insigh!

Yes but not without any modifications as the 350z brembo mounting points are diff

Akebonos are drop fit and every bit as good as Brembos.

If you have a true G37 X"S" coupe you should have the big Akebono brakes AFAIK.
The big Akebonos should be about as good as 4 pot Brembos, the big 6 pot Brembos will have better performance but cost at least 3 grand.
If you want Akebonos at a bargain check this thread from member Overboard~

Exactly!
OP make sure you got the sport package instead of the red S emblem :)

Dealer is an idiot. The silver calipers your Infiniti friends have are not brembos but AKEBONOS. your Xs should have them?

I made a mistake on the original post its a sedan and not a coupe. So can the sedan XS stock calipers both front and rears be changes to Akebonos? Sorry about the error. Again thanks? Also are the rotors larger than the stock ones I have now? My head was in another world after snow plowing for many hours!

Yes, the Akebonos fit all G37s.

PNW_IPL, when I asked my dealer service rep about brake pads, his parts parts guy wanted to know if I had the Brembo brakes. So, either multiple dealers are idiots or some Infinitis come with Brembos. I don't know.

So I am able to change all my calipers to Akebono’s front and rears? So I assume that the rotors are going to be larger too? Any recommendation on where to buy all the parts to do the conversion?

Here's a thread w/ all the parts you need~
https://www.myg37.com/forums/brakes-...the-cheap.html
And in my post above there's that kit from rockauto.com w/ remanufactured Akebonos for even cheaper.

Thanks for the link

the big Akebonos will have no better stopping distance - you will just be able to use them more before they start fading.

are you going to track the car, or are doing it just for looks, because you can increase stopping distance by getting better tires and pads, and stainless braided lines for better "feel".

slartibartfast Mar 24, 2018 03:58 PM

I think you mean they will "improve" stopping distance, not "increase".

Not really on the street. The initial 60-0 for both are near identical but the Akebono advantage will be seen as soon as you start getting both really hot at the track. The Akebonos also have a much better selection of pads.

You also won't find a sliding pin stuck eating the rotor off the car like I did last weekend
