$420 to Replace G37S Brake Pads
Hi All,
Just a really quick question. Is $420 out the door a fair price to replace the front and rear brake pads (OEM) and "scuff-up" the rotors on a 2009 G37S? It is definitely cheaper than the price Infiniti quoted but I'm not sure if it is typical for a private auto shop in CT. Best Regards, Michael |
That completely depends on what pads they are. It's probably a little high.

$200 per axle is about right for by tri.state area.
Just make sure they use good pads, not the cheapest thing the auto part supplier has. |
do it yourself. it's a piece of cake and would only probably take you less than an hour to do everything.

Just ordered stoptech pads and ate blue brake fluid... $179. Spoke with the service dept at my local dealer and they will replace the pads, machine the rotors, and flush the fluid for $160.
That's $339 - so I'd say $420 just to change the pads is too much. |

Do it yourself. I did mine yesterday. All 4 corners cost me 174 plus alittle anti squeek and about 2 hours of my time. That was for stoptech street/track pads for a g37s. Once you bed them... wow
What you need: pads 21 mm tire iron (in your trunk) jack screw driver needle nose plyers a cloth to use between plyers, brake pads and caliper. 2 hours time. |
^+8. Brakes are a very straightforward DIY with basic tools. Buying your own parts online and putting in a little of your own time will cut the cost by 2/3, easily.
While your at it grab an order or two of air and cabin filters online. Both are extremely easy to change and the online parts are way cheaper than dealer costs. Then put the money in the bank or your "fun" fund. |
