HELP: Osram Xenarc 66240 CBI Upgrade...Something isn't right!

Had the Osram Xenarc 66240 CBI's installed today at JT Motoring in Hyde Park, MA (Boston).

I'm having an issue with the output from them...the passenger's side is very bright and light seems to be aimed at the ground, but the left side seems more scattered and leave a lack of light on the ground.

When projecting onto a wall, they seem to be level.
The passenger's side cut off is sharp, but the driver's side is blurry.

The Osram's with just a couple of hours on them are definitely whiter than the OEM Koito's they replaced.
Still have a slight yellow until they are fully burned in.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to take any pictures of this problem at this time.
I will try to get some posted tomorrow night.

Please...any suggestions/answers to why and how to solve this issue is greatly appreciated!

Since you didnt post pics, its kinda hard to diagnose your problem. Im assuming these are headlight bulbs? Try adjusting/aiming the lights yourself (instructions in the DIY section of this site). Otherwise I would just wait till the morning and take the car back to them and explain to them your problem. They install enough lighting kits to be more familiar with your problem as soon as they see or hear about it, most of us on this forum are merely enthusiasts and can only offer suggestions. Keep your receipt, and just take the car back to them tomorrow. They stand behind their products and their work.

Try to take a output pic of your problem. To me it sounds like the bulb wasn't seated correctly. You might want to try and reinstall them and adjust you headlights to see if it improves.

Thanks for the helpful replies.
I don't have access to the car right now, so I'm unable to take any pics.

I will definitely go back to JT Motoring and have them take a look at it.
I'm just hoping that it is safe to drive at night due to this issue...since my wife is driving right now to work!

Can someone post the link on how to adjust the headlights...can't seem to find the thread.

I know everyone is talking problems with the bulbs, but it may be a ballast problem on the dimmer side.

Unless the ballast got damaged from installing the HID bulb...it was working fine with the stock Koito D2S HID bulbs before I got the Osram's installed.

Just called JT Motoring and they will take a look later this afternoon...I'll update then.

Please let us know soon. I have an 08coupe. Brought the OSRAM CBI had the electrical guy in the bodyshop put in for me as I was getting the IPL bumper installed. Once the headlight fired up, it was WOW. No problems what so ever, the OEM ballast are suppose to work 100% proper with these German Osram/Sylvania.

A 35 watt bulb shouldn't effect the ballast. Only a 55 watt might cause issues.. I would first check to make sure the bulbs are seated properly, that would make the output bad and misaligned.

UPDATE:

The issue was not with the Osram's, but due to the projectors in my headlights!

JT Motoring says that the cut off from my headlights are one of the worse they have ever seen from a stock HID projector...even with the OEM Koito HID bulbs.
Due to the projectors, the Osram bulbs alignment is off by a hair and unable to produce the correct light...this is how I understand the problem.
I'm not sure why this problem is not as pronounced by the Koito bulbs, but is on the Osram bulbs.
Still with the OEM Koito bulbs, there still seems to be an issue regarding loss of sharpness and light output.

I guess I'll have to deal with this loss, since Infiniti would just look at me strange if I mentioned the issue with the cut off being blurry.

The level of the headlights were also off.
Funny that I had to adjust the passengers side level, which was lower than the drivers side...it should be the other way around in order to prevent blinding oncoming traffic.
This was corrected, so I'm good there.

Not sure if this is out of content, but is anyone interested in purchasing the Osram bulbs?

Please PM me for details.

I don't know how the projector can be the issue. The cut off is blurry cause of the frensal (ribbed) lenses. Something else must be wrong... No one else had this problem with these bulbs. They must have been installed incorrectly.

JT Motoring says it can only be installed one way, due to the notches.

I'm taking them for a second opinion to Royal Wheel & Tire where I usually go...I think that going to JT Motoring was a mistake.
:banghead:

I hope I can get this issue resolved.

Try swich bulbs from side to side. Maybe some issues with one of the bulbs.

mishmosh Jan 19, 2013 08:00 PM

I've had this happen and it was the bulb not being seated. Forget the notches, the bulb may not be seated right and you can still close the latch and think all is right until you see the splotchy output.

BTW, changing hid capsules is pretty basic. You should consider diy.
