Cruise Control Not Working

Hey guys,

I ordered an Uprev standard tune about a month ago, very successful with downloading the software and flashing it to the car, however, I ran into an issue my stock tune was my first map, in order to get to my tuned map I needed to use the cruise control switch to switch it. I found out that my cruise control wasn't turning on, even with the "back to stock" flash on my car. I called Uprev they said that their tune doesn't go anywhere near the cruise control so it wasn't anything they did. I did remember seeing 3 codes when I first plugged the Uprev in, which I though was odd, these codes were P1564 (steering switch) and two U1001 which were Control Area Network codes or grounding issues. So with the "back to stock" flash on the car i took it to the dealership for attempt 1: What they did was find that there was a grounding issue, so they changed the spiral cable in the steering wheel, still no cruise. They decided to order the two switches for the steering wheel, attempt 2 still not cruise control so they ordered a brand new ECM. Attempt 3, installed the new ECM and still no cruise control. So after three trips to the dealership I have a new spiral cable, new steering switches, and new ECM and still I have no cruise control. Of course I'm very irritated, but what he is going to do now is hook up the car with the Infiniti Tech line and see what he can find, he seems to think that the cruise control might go through a different module and not the ECM.

Anyone else have some insight on this problem.

Oh yeah I have owned my Uprev tune for a month and still not been able to actually experience it....

I do not have a grounding kit on my car, I have an intake, test pipes, y-pipe, HID fogs, and that's about it for mods

if the dealer cant figure out this problem,,,,i say you lemon law that b!tch

abice 08-28-2011 05:33 PM

thanks franky, but I feel like I'm out of the lemon law, I thought the lemon law was something that was at the very beginning of the cars life. I really don't want to do a lemon law because I don't know what I will get out of that

abice 08-28-2011 05:34 PM

if my cruise control not working can get me a brand new G37 with no miles than so be it but I highly doubt that would happen

Frankyg37s 08-28-2011 05:40 PM

YES you can get a NEW car if they dont fix it and soon!!! THATS THE LAW. call corporate and get upset you paid alot of money for your g37 and this is not right GET A LAWYER!!!

Frankyg37s 08-28-2011 05:42 PM

in your case i dont believe you have a LEMON just the dealer is too dumb to figure out wats wrong

abice 08-28-2011 08:19 PM

I totally agree with you, I also think the cruise control goes through one of the other four boxes that are under the glove box, I mean I don't know what is under there but I feel like there is more too it.

Could I potentially get an IPL... :-)?

Do you have tech package?

abice 08-28-2011 10:13 PM

no I don't

RISKY GUY 08-29-2011 09:44 AM

My icc had to be changed, new one is acting up.
If you have regular cc, it is not a seperate unit/module.

abice 08-29-2011 10:13 AM

well they have tried to fix it three times I'll give them one more shot if they can't fix it do I really need to get a lawyer or can I just tell them look guys this is the fourth time we need to call corporate and explain what is going on it's a lemon please give me a new car

RISKY GUY 08-29-2011 01:19 PM

On the 4th attempt, would be considered a lemon.
Also goes by if the car was in the shop xyz amount of days.
They should know, any type of cc problem is a major saftey issue.

abice 08-29-2011 01:46 PM

Over the summer I think they have had my car in the shop for about a weeks amount of time.

abice 08-29-2011 02:00 PM

I just set up a fourth appointment to get it fixed.

Should I contact Corporate Infiniti to outline my situation before I go for the fourth attempt?

Frankyg37s 08-29-2011 09:51 PM

if they dont fix it next time call corporate

abice 08-30-2011 07:28 AM

alright good plan

abice 08-30-2011 11:38 AM

My SES light came on today. Do you think it would have been caused by the new ECM the dealership just installed? If I hook up my Uprev Software without the tune installed will I still be able to view the code?

abice 08-31-2011 12:52 PM

The codes that I have showing are 2 U1001 and a P1564 steering switch and then the new code with the SES is a P1421 cold start control code, which I think is something to do with my test pipes, but it's annoying because I drove with them for about 2000 miles and the light never came on and then they installed a new ECM the other day and now I have a light on WTF

abice 08-31-2011 01:42 PM

I just found out that my Uprev license is using a ECU part number 23710-JU71A which is a part number of an AWD Intelligent Cruise Control Number and that part number I should be using is 23710-JU70A which is for AWD ASCD, however, my dealership just replaced the ECU switches and cables so that shouldn't be an issue at this point, yet my cruise control is still not working

abice 08-31-2011 02:25 PM

So I just contacted Uprev this is what happened, my parts manager gave me a license number for a 2009 AWD G37 with ICC, since I don't have it, the computer thinks there is a cc module. when I reflashed with the back to stock it was still a license for a G37 with ICC, so when My dealership replaced the ECU they put an ECU in the car for ICC so that is why it is still not working, Uprev is now giving me the correct ECU software which should clear everything up.... WOWWWWWWWWW!!!

abice 09-07-2011 10:34 PM

Not with mine there actually wasn't an issue with the cruise control I don't think because it works fine now, the issue was the software that was on the computer, the software on the computer was for a G37 with Intelligent cruise control and as was mentioned earlier the cruise control operates through a different module with ICC, since I don't have that module it wasn't able to turn on, when Uprev supplied me with the correct software for a G37 with an ASCD switch it worked properly

This was all due to the fact that my parts manager did not know that there was two different ECU part numbers for ICC cars and ASCD cars, since he gave me the wrong number and I gave it to Uprev, Uprev provided a license with that incorrect ECU number and that screwed everything up

i just wanted to bring attention to this thread. if it wasnt for this thread i never wouldve thought i had the wrong ecm installed in my car for the last 2 years and that was why my cruise wouldnt turn on but i had no other issues with the car. my dealer installed an ecm for icc. and only last week this all got sorted out and the correct ecm is now installed lol and cruise control works now...amen!!!
