I feel like a G37 guinea pig
So i just got a mail from "RDA Group" with a single dollar and a long survey in it. haha. basically it is a detailed survey geared towards 'new vehicles' and their quirks. it asks things about the features i have but primarliy it goes into geat detail with asking about the mechanical functionality and quality of the car. split into sections like: wind noise, sqeaks and rattles, water leaks, body/exterior, interior, brakes, steering, engine, transmission, brakes, electrical, temperature....all aspects of the car
my only issue has been the rear axle ping/squeak that everyone had when first starting off...i am also going to mention to soft paint INFI uses that scratches and chips too easy compared to other cars in its class...no real consistent rattles other than the rear axle squeak that but i know many of u, namely the list below, have had more problems. I was wondering if I should report on all of them just to help voice get heard. What do U guys say? Also who else got this survey? The return envelope is addressed to RDA Group in Bloomfield Hills, MI which is near me. So maybe its just a Michigan thing or it could be a motor city based group mailing out to all over the nation I dunno..Either way its a chance to let Infiniti know.
too bad it wont affect us and it will prob only apply to 09 and 10 models..if things get bad i may do a trade in though - the snowy winter is keepin miles low on my G
Mechanical:
(1) Rear Axle Ticking/Pinging - Addressed
(2) Exhaust rattling loudly - Addressed
(3) Front sport bumper cover misaligned and paint chipped. - Addressed
Not yet addressed:
(4) Sunroof popping on uneven surfaces
(5) Parking brake groan when let off the main brake. ( this didn't happen until the axle work )
(6) Front right ( and left? ) strut groan and pop on rebound and braking. ( This started with a sharp semi-emergency deceleration, but not stop, and is getting worse at an alarming rate, just happened today. ).
Other lower priority issues not yet addressed:
(1) Rear view mirror crackling noise on bump
(2) Resonant rattle near windshield defroster on driver side near sun sensor.
(3) Glove box rattles on bumps. It is empty.
(4) deep scratches on driver side door paint parallel with earth. Maybe Fixable.
(5) Deep cut on back of steering wheel surface, at the 9-10 o'clock position at the spoke.
(6) Deep scratch exactly parallel to door seam on driver rear quarter panel.
(7) Deep scratch on driver side front wheel spoke.
(8) Pretty much the entire dash area pops/moves when I hit a sharp but shallow bump, like interstate seams.
(9) The passenger seat vibrates side to side at a resonant frequency when I hit sharp but shallow bumps with just one side of the car (front and rear wheels) resulting in rattle.
(10) Ipod cable too short.

I got a call once asking how many people lived in the household and I said 3 (I lied). 2 weeks later, I get 3 surveys with $5 each in it. I should've said 5 or 6
. I always thought it was illegal to send paper money by mail though. As for the survey, it would be a good idea to report it all at the same time for the 1st one I would think. But for the JD power one, I'd only use your problem since it is a nation wide survey and it would be more representative of the market.
With your attention to detail, you should be a test mule driver for Inifiniti. I can't remember the last time I looked at the backside of my steering wheel, or noted any resonant frequencies in my G37.

Yeah, I noticed. I was gonna post about how you conveniently adopted his problems to be yours but realized you were just including them as problems in general.
Hopefully I'm not jinxing my car.

That was me. I decided to make a list of everything I noticed. I think there is also something inside the passenger door that rolls backward on acceleration and forward on braking.
I am trying to get this under control, and make procedures for reproducing the problems, and let some settle into their patterns and then nail them all at once.
I found and fixed one of the rattles, the glove compartment.

This was a common problem for the G35s.. My car started doing this very early around 3000 miles, got the rear-end tourque down, problem solved at 77k miles now. G37 sounds like its headed in the same direction unfortunately!

at least we dont have oil consumption.....or no one does yet...hehe knock on wood....ive heard horror storys of g35's having "consumed" over half the engine's oil....!
RDA Group is a large market research firm. I believe that they conduct this survey for Ford.
They only enclose a dollar because including more can distort responses, while enclosing nothing hurts the response rate.
You'll also note that it's a dollar, not a check. People can just throw away a check. They won't throw away the dollar. So many people feel that they owe something in return for the dollar, and return the survey.
One thing that's been suggested but as far as I know never done: use the envelope to return the dollar.
I also conduct surveys, entirely online. People get paid no money, just full access to the results. Which you won't get with RDA or JDP.
