Paddle Shifter question...

Hey guys... I'm looking to purchase a g37x sedan. My question is... Is there any way to tell if the car has the wiring for the paddle shifter kit without opening up the steering column? Seems that everything I read says that's the way, but i was just wondering because I definitely wanna be able to install paddle shifters on it if I purchase one. Cant really open up the steering column if i havent purchased the car yet... Most likely will be getting a 09 g37x. I want the AWD for the winters up here in NY and the sedan gives me the extra space I need. And paddle shifters just seem like a fun addition. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sorry bud.... but there is no way you can tell. You have to remove the steering column and even then you have to look to see if the connections are there.

Get an older model G 11-13 as they are pretty much guaranteed to be pre-wired. Early model year(s) are hit and miss.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone know what the wiring is used for? It can't just be for the paddle shifter?

It's my understanding, you only have to remove the trim that surrounds the column. The connectors are only used for the paddle shifters and are tape wrapped to the harness that's on the bottom side of the column. YouTube vids and pretty sure there is a diy thread on here with pics.
