Yep it's a simple DIY, but not 100% sure how the boot is going to mate up so I may have to remove the center piece to get that addressed. Stay tuned..........
I was going to say I imagine the boot will need to come off so the assembly can slide over everything. For that the boot would probably have to come off which is a little more complicated.

Yeah, I was just messing w/ it a bit and the boot will have to come off to get the original shifter boot collar off, there's also a plastic sleeve that goes over the shift pole that seems like it's going to take more motivation than I've got right now.

Thats kind of what I figured. I was looking at what's coming with my kit and thought I would have to do the same. I may wait to do mine until I get in the shift boot I ordered but I'm not certain yet. I know I'm going to have to redo it again once the new boot collar gets machined but at the same time I don't want to,wait...
It's going to take some getting used to, it shifts fine but since the **** has to slide down to engage the park release it's not solidly connected to the linkage like the OEM ****. I don't dislike it, but it's definitely a pretty dramatic change in feel and operation.
Actually took it out for a bit and I'm going to have to pull that boot up some more if I plan to stay w/ that OEM collar, the boot gets too crunched up when I push it all the way down for park release and makes shifting down to neutral harder than it needs to be. I will say I do prefer this **** when flipped over to manual mode though.
Oh and I do have a fresh pic of my $5 Chinese Ebay stereo *****, like them quite a bit TBH, and those little grooves in the side give them nice grip.
Looks good blnewt. What did you search to find those *****, they look pretty solid and at 10x cheaper than the Carsmo ***** I can actually justify buying them.

Here's the link, and only issue was lower left **** sits too low to activate the "push" feature, simple fix, just roll up some teflon tape and put the ball of it in the back of the **** fitting to push it out a bit, works like a champ now, I also wrapped the slotted stereo arms w/ some teflon tape to get a snug fit.

And I had to ditch the OEM collar plan, just too much "stuff" wedged down into the shift valley. Working 10x better now, and still looks fine IMO, (btw, zip tie is just temporary, lol)
