Style is always a personal preference and I think the wheels definitely look better with the dark vinyl inserts. If you are doing it yourself, the inserts would be easier than painting, but why not pay a wheel repair guy to paint them. I had one of these guys paint my entire wheels on another car and it turned out great.

However, every time I actually see them, the dislike just will not click in my mind. I actually think they are a nice, sporty set of OEM wheels. Yes, if you compare them to the 19" coupe then they are not as nice, but the 19" coupe wheels might be the nicest OEM wheels that I have seen, but aside from the 19" coupe, I think these 18" wheels really does well with the car and looks great. Truthfully, what am I missing with these wheels? Why the dislike and disgust?
They're actually a quality wheel too. Rotary forged (a fancy casting process) made in Japan and comparatively light weight.

I just can't justify paying a couple grand for heavier cast wheels made in China

I really like the 18 S wheels that came on the G35 V36. These ones:

I wish I could find a decent value on a rear set to put up front. I love these wheels, and don't want to get rid of them.

And those clear a BBK like the duck feet. So two sets of 18s that are good quality OEM, BBK clearers? Not bad.

I don't believe ours (G35 V36) clear the BBKs without spacers.

Cool. Thanks for the correction. And the lug seats are flat (mag) not tapered (60*) ? Where as the G35 S coupe 19" Rays are tapered? Just trying to get it straight.

Yes, correct, the old G35 coupe 19" Rays use the conical/tapered seat, but all 2nd generation G35s and G37s use the flat mag-style lug nuts w/ washers.
