i see that people are using the power source form the mirror.. is there anyway to maintain functions (auto-dim) and run the camera at the same time?

Does this record constantly or does it loop over its self? Seems like a good purchase for the price especially for longer road trips.

I just did some research to see if this will work and it will, if you find a way to convert the 12v from the mirror into 5v for the dash cam to use.

I find it will be easier to do it through the fuse with just a lighter socket like this one here: Lighter Socket - BlackBoxed.ca. Plug the included power adaptor into the lighter socket then connect the red wire to a fuse to your fuse box and the black one to a ground.

Follow the instructions in the hardwire guide here: Installation Guide - BlackBoxed.ca. This one is for a Hardwiring Kit, but instructions are pretty much the same.

When you turn on your car, it records until the memory card is full and then it recycles the oldest video. Turns itself off after you turn the car off. It's a plug in and forget it type of device until you need it for evidence. The Mini 0801/0803 hides very well behind a rearview mirror.

Presto is correct. With the new processor, night video quality is much better than the Mini 0801.

Thank you for the order! It'll be processed and shipped soon.

I test fit the 0803 with this converter jammed into the brown and black wires on the mirror, seems to work:

There is no difference between genuine Mini 0803s on the market. E-Prance just brands it with their name. We can call ours the Black Boxed Mini 0803 if we wished to, but we like to keep things simple.

If you are looking for the newest one with the heatsink and new mount though, I'm not too sure if E-Prance has all of its inventory with it yet.
However, BlackBoxed.ca has just the new ones for sure. The update was just done around 2 weeks ago and some resellers still have the old version mixed into their inventory.

That looks like it'll work perfectly for those looking to tap into mirror.

(i never have soldered anything in my life... lol) or should i just use the use something like this and get a really long usb cable

another quick question.. i have noticed that my recordings are recording in parts and also when it creates a new recording its not right after the other... there was a space between 2-3mins before it started to record again... is there a reason for this?

edit: it has also stopped recording sound.. lol. i must have done something wrong.

That power adapter plus a USB cable will be exactly the same as the power adapter that comes with the camera. Get something like the ebay item in my previous posting that has wire ends and connect it somehow to the wires in the mirror (splice, wire tap, solder, twist, jam it in, whatever).

The USB to cigarette lighter adapter in the link is no different from what is included in the box.

The video files are suppose to be in parts. You can set it so that it is in 1/3/5 minute sections. The oldest file is automatically rewritten when the memory card is full.

As for the spaces between the files and the sound, what brand and class of Micro SD card are you using?
