I have the code and the dealer is going to install for free tomorrow. Will let everyone know how it goes.
I noticed the change on the website to 08-09 instead of 8.2.
What version do people with the 2009 G37 have.
OK, So the dealer looked into this and tried with the code I got from Navteq. Navteq is incorrect in that there is no update for the 2009 G as of now. The version they are peddling as an upgrade is already in the system from the factory. Called Navteq, and they said that the update will be out in March, and that the website should only be for 2008 models.
They are giving me the option of carrying over the purchase to the update in March or refunding the money.
BTW, the dealer confirmed, and I watched the tech perform the check. They plug in the computer, and it checks the current version loaded against the version available and compares. The code is used to access the downloads and is tied to the VIN of the vehicle when installed, and then updated in the NAVTEQ database to prevent it from being loaded into more than one car.
Get a refund man there can't be that many significant changes, at least none worth $200, best to wait another year or so unless you live in a newly developed area.
such b.s. that we have to pay to get an update for our nav systems which we paid an extra $2500 for
it should just be updated for us when we take our cars to get serviced as a courtesy
rip off
