Spacers and Tire sizes HELP on OEM wheels lowered

Hello,

Just traded in my '12 MB G37XS Coupe for a '11 MB G37 IPL Coupe with Monaco Red Interior and loving it thus far.

Was just wondering if I can fit 245/275 tires and 20mm spacers all around on Tein Basis Coilovers without rubbing and doing any fender modifications?

Any insight would be much appreciated! Going for this look in the attached photo I found on the forum!

I'd lower it first (if you haven't already) then just measure how far out you want to get the look you're after. Welcome to the site BTW Mark :)

I have the 275/245 tires on KW Coilovers lowered to no gap, slightly tucked.

When I went to 275s in the rear I had to trim /bend in the bumper bracket because the tires were rubbing on dips/bumps.

The fronts never rubbed .

I have 20/15 spacers. 15 rear/20 front.

I want to try 25/20 as it would make my wheels even more flush. But i dont know if the rears will rub the fender on dips/bumps

What exact size are you running if you don't mind me asking ? 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 ??

Thanks Blnewt! I will upload a build thread with pictures of the new car once this snow storm passes here! She's a beauty, only IPL in my area!

Thanks for your advice! I'm just not sure the 15mm spacer in rear with 275 will be as flush as I want, but maybe it's worth a try when I go to do it! Will definately get the fender liner trimmed and bumper bracket shaved though soon

Yes, 275/35/19 with 15MM spacers

245/40/19 with 20MM spacers

The fronts really need 25MM spacers ....the rears would look more flush w/ 20MM spacer but I don't know if I'll have fender rubbing issues

The 15MM isn't completely flush. About another 1/4 to half inch till its completely flush. Thats why I want to try 20MM in rear and 25 MM up front.

The fronts with 20MM are even less flush then the rears. :icon32:

Yea that seems about right. Let me know if you do go to a 20mm out back and if there is any rubbing etc. Ideally I would want to do the 20mm all around or like you said 20mm rear and 25mm front to get that nice flush fitment. It's all trial and error I guess haha!

If you go with bolt-on spacers (which I would recommend for those thicker spacers) why not just get a pair of 20mm, and see how they look with one in front and one in back. Chances are pretty good one of the two ends will look just right w/ the 20mm.

Then get another set of 20s if you like that fit all around.
or~a pair of 15s if it's too tight in the front (or the back).
or~a pair of 25s if you need another 5mm to get it just right :)

Ohhh true! Didn't think of that actually, might be the best bet for me. Gauge it out to see what I need with the appropriate drop without having to buy more spacers than needed! Thanks blnewt!

Oh wow your car is looking mint! Maybe I'll just do that. Are you on 245/275 tires or just stock sizes?

Aali176 02-09-2017 09:32 AM

Thanks! Its stock tire size. Just make sure they're torqued to spec. Ive read some crazy stories about how unsafe spacers can be when installed wrong. I believe I torqued them to about 80 lbs to be safe.
