Get a set of high performance all seasons/actual summers, and a set of winter tires on 17" wheels.

What he said^^^^Keeping your 17s for the crummy weather, then when it's nice out you can run a much better performing Summer (3 season) tire. This will keep your nice new wheels from getting beat up in the winter crud and you'll have much more fun being able to truly push your G when it get above freezing :)

Take off the basically new tires, put on winters and sell the old tires for a few hundred. You're going to severely limit traction in both snow and in dry fun months by wanting to have one set do it all. You don't want to have to switch your wheels twice a year, but wouldn't you rotate your tires semi regularly? Takes no more work to switch wheels as it does to rotate tires.

Conti DWS
has a slightly softer sidewall than others but really unmatched when it comes to snow/ice

Why would i take off my new tires on my stocks and buy new ones?

Second this vote. I have dedicated summer and winter setups, but I had these when I had an A4 and can vouch that the Conti ExtremeContact DWS is unmatched.

Check out the BFG Comp 2 AS. I have had them installed for 3 weeks now and have been very happy with them.

Thirded. I just put a set on mine, and can't wait for the nasty weather. :)

Unfortunately I don't show an all season option in those sizes. DWS was the only one, but they have been discontinued.
