Vibration at high speeds

Hello all. Just last week I got new tires for my 2012 sedan, and the steering wheel shakes at speeds over 72mph. Also i noticed that the car shakes when i hit the brakes. This all started after the new tires were installed. I'm getting an oil change today and getting the wheels balanced. they are also checking the alignment. Anything else I should have them check? Thanks in advance!

Just be sure whom ever balances the tires that they use a Road Force Balancer and not just a dynamic balancer.

Sounds like 2 different problems.

Shaking at higher speeds could be tire balance. And yes - specifiy road force balance.

The shaking when you apply brakes (at any speed?) could mean you need to have the rotors true'd.

let us know what they say - good luck!

Mine shakes between 80-82mph then smooths out......heard most tire balances are rated at <60mph...truly annoying for a "luxury car"....can't blame the car though!

I also have 2012 and replaced my OEM tires at 32k miles in January with Michelin Pilot AS3's

I purchased the tires at the dealer and had both the alignment and balancing done at a total cost of $1120.00. I'm sure you probably paid less but I've learned my lesson a long time ago
Buy cheap and you will very often end up buying twice with lots of aggravation.

I've had my G37S up to 100mph briefly with none of the problems you are describing.
Runs like brand new.

I'm still on my original brake pads and managed to get 85k miles on the oem pads on my previous 06 G35.

Although you didn't mention the mileage on your 2012, it seems odd that you may already have warped rotors or worn brake pads.

Good luck

i would say the best thing to do is to bring it to the tire shop or to the dealer so they can make sure its not something else that is causing the problem

shuddering when braking is a sign of warped rotors.

Could be, also uneven pad deposits or rust buildup under the pads after water soaked pads have stayed static for a while.
