The Official "Find Rochester Some Wheels" Thread.

Our forum mainstay "Rochester" recently had his beloved mom pass away but left a monetary gift that will expedite his wheel mod. His requirements must be:
~Light, or at least as light as the OEM 18" sport wheels

~Wheel that will look good on a white Sedan

~Clear the big Akebono brakes

~Not crazy expensive

~18 or 19" (no 20s as he's keeping his suspension at stock height)

~This is the wheel he wanted but unfortunately won't clear his BBK

Well rule out any vossens then, because they are heavy and overpriced, and might turn him into a tool. But that's besides the point.

Has he looked into any Work Wheels ?
I also love the 370z wheels (nismo) on sedans, possibly the stock g37 couple sport 19s ?

VMRs are pretty good, I have a buddy who has them on his GTI and likes them.

also forgestar f14 are pretty good and cheap

I loved my VMR on my Audi. AvantGarde are nice too, and fairly inexpensive.

What is Rochester's definition of crazy expensive? Some guys won't spend $2k on wheels, whereas others would drop $6k on a set without blinking an eye...
There are a lot of nice options in the $2,500-3k range in my opinion.

Forgestar F14's or VMR 710's best looking and fitting for the sedan imho.. Virtually anything goes with white as well. Aggressive might be black powder coat on down to less aggressive gunmetal or polished silver which would all set off a white sedan.

If he was considering Vossens, why would he care about the weight.

I kinda like the VMR 701's. Similar to the sport coupe wheels so they look good on the sedan. Key is getting a wheel that the spokes go all the way to the edge when looking at 18's or 19's.

they're about 23 lbs for an 18x8.5

Personally I'd go with 18's because they're lighter and a set of Michelin PSS is about $300 cheaper than the 19's.

I also like those Bavaria wheels you have newt, seem like a nice set.

Bingo. That's exactly how I feel about spokes and the lip. Don't like big, chrome-like lips anyway.

Because the Vossen CVT is so damn pretty. The finish, the gentle twist in the spokes, the balance of 10 spokes to 5 bolts, and that artistic quality of directional design. On top of that, the attention to detail having a left side and a right side... IDK, it's just cool. I like them.

The extra 2 pounds each would be a small compromise in 19". But as a heavy 20" rim... any 20" rims for that matter, I have to draw the line. 20" only looks good if the G is dropped a little bit, and that's not going to happen as long as my driveway is the way it is.

And... this just in from Diego:

I did. Nothing stood out for me.

I like the 370Z rims, too, but not on the Sedan. And the G37S Coupe rims are a proven winner, but they just don't look special. And this is intended to be a special gift. At least, that's how I'm rationalizing it.

Good looking rims, but they don't really speak to me either.

I'd like to keep the wheel-alone expense under $2500, because I'll be buying a set of PSS to match.

And I respect people who prioritize big bucks for high quality forged rims, but that's just not me. I'm cool with spending money on modifying for performance, but only little bucks when it comes to appearance. Vossens would be a small compromise, only rationalized by recent events. Otherwise, I wouldn't have gone there.

And this just in by email from VOSSEN:

The CVT 19x8.5 weighs 26 pounds and the 19x10 weighs 27 pounds.
