SSR Professor MS3- proper sizing for 2012 G37 Journey Sedan?

Hi,

I’m new to the G37 community and thankful for the loads of info on this forum.

I have a 2012 Infiniti G37 Journey Sedan, and would like to buy a new set of wheels for it.

I am very interested in a set of 20” SSR Professor MS3 wheels.

As far as I know these are custom order from Japan, with a four month wait and a substantial price tag.

I really want to make sure I get the right size and offsets the first time, but it has been rather difficult figuring out what’s right.

My car is daily driven, and I occasionally do have passengers in the rear seats. I want to make sure that the wheels/tires don’t rub against the fenders when I have passengers or worse, when I’m just making turns. I want a squared look almost OEM look, no excessive camber, no sticking out from the fender, no stretched tire, no “hella flush” appearance, and I don’t want the wheel tucked into the fender. I don’t want to have to roll the fenders to accomplish the goal of no rubbing. I have a 300ZX Twin Turbo lowered on Eibach springs and run an 18x10 wheel with 275/35’s in the rear without rubbing at a nice lower-than-OEM ride height and almost factory feel in comfort, even with a loaded trunk of parts and spirited driving. Given this experience, I plan to lower the G on Eibachs as well. I already have the Eibach Pro-Kit springs and the Eibach front and rear camber kits.

I e-mailed both SSR and one of their dealers regarding these goals, and got two different answers.

The dealer told me:
F 20x9 +24 with 245/30-20
R 20x10 +24 with 255/30-20

I don’t know, the 255 sounds stretched to me on a 10” wide wheel.

I also found a link on this forum to proper offsets for the G37 sedan, and the lowest recommended offset was in the 30’s (can’t remember the site or the number now, it’s on my desktop computer), so the +24 sounds pretty aggressive.

The lip sizes were fairly significant as well- 68 mm (2.6” in the front) and 80 mm (3.14 inches) in the rear, it almost feels like too much.

A few days later SSR e-mailed me back.

SSR told me that they recommended 19’s for the G37 Sedan.
F 19x8.5 +43 NR disk with 245/40-19
R 19x9.5 +55 SL disk with 273/35-19.

SSR told me that I MIGHT be able to get away with +43 offset for the rears instead of +55, but they stressed the MAYBE.

If I wanted to try 20, they said this MIGHT work:
F 20x8.5 +43 NR disk with 245/35-20
R 20x9.5 +55 SL disk with 273/30-20

Again stressing the MAYBE. They felt 19’s were better but I feel that sometimes 19’s look small on the G…

There’s a big gap between the dealer recs and the company recs, with a lot of “maybes” that have made me not pull the trigger yet.

Can you guys point me in a more specific direction?

Does any one have pictures of this wheel on their G37 Sedan (I’ve seen it on Coupes but not on Sedans).

What other things should I factor in the 19 vs 20 debate other than appearance?

Thanks so much to anyone who can give me some advice. And again, if anyone has pics, can you show and tell?

Thanks again!

Stuck in holding pattern on wheels until I figure this out…

Best
Arnie

I think sedans can be flush at sizing around
F: 19x9 (+30)
R: 19x10 (+30)

No stretch, no rubs.

I just ordered a set myself

I'm lowered to zero fender gap on coils and run 8.5x20 +40 on 245/35/20 and 10x20 +45 on 295/30/20 w/ no rubbing, the front has a bit more room to the fender edge since the front fender isn't rolled like the rear. My camber is well in spec at -1.1 degrees. Here's a pic for reference.
