I would get coilovers.... you can get that low, and the shocks will be matched to it.

Here's my car on Tein Basics... they can go a lot lower.

I haven't been able to find much feed back regarding the Tein Basis coilovers. How long have you had them? Do you like them? How's the ride? Have you ever gone lower than they are in that pic?
Sorry for the barrage of questions. I really want to put my wheels on my car, but I want to have my suspension components installed first. I was leaning towards K-Sport because I'm familiar with them, but the Teins will save me a few hundred dollars. I'm sure my car would look very SUV-like if I install my 20" wheels (20x10.5) without lowering it, and by the looks of your car, the Tein Basis coilovers may be the way to go.

Foreword- ride quality is very dependent on where you live. If your roads are bad, it's gonna feel bad no matter how good the suspension is.

I do. I am somewhat picky about suspension as I'm a mechanical engineer. I bought these with the intention of swapping out the shocks for Koni Yellows, but it turns out that is not necessary. They are about as comfortable as stock, while being much more buttoned down. They do get a little bouncy with passengers, but with just me they are just about perfect. I actually feel they are a little soft, especially now that the shocks seem a little broken in. They rode harsh at the beginning. They can go a lot lower. I am going to be putting wheels on next week (19x9.5 on 255/40), so I will set my final height then. Based on where it's sitting now and how tall the tires will be I don't think I'm going to have any tire gap. They can go lower if you want and still be in the recommended range, but that will still affect ride quality.

I would say this rides a lot like a stock Z Touring/Sport, with a little more jiggle in the chassis. As I said before road conditions affect this- for me my 350Z was very comfortable down here in NC, but bone rattling up in NYC on the same exact stock suspension and wheels. So you have to think about how your roads are.

I would definitely do suspension first. Personally, I'm not that big of a fan of K-Sport. For the same money I would consider the Tein Flex Zs. Those will give you adjustable damping, as well as the ability to lower without affecting shock travel/preload. They are a little stiffer than the Basis Zs which is the only caveat.

But yea, for just a street driven car I'm a big fan of the Basis Zs. I definitely recommend them.

Personally I'd just get a wider tire in the rear. There's a slight stretch that appears to be unnecessary with the space there. A little more meat would set it right IMO
