Just got 2009 G37 Sedan. What Rims/Tires Fit?

New Owner as of Last week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My G37 is a Bad *** Ride. I was driving a 1999 Pathfinder with 250,700 miles that I traded in. I know, I know.......

Got a 2009 G37 Journey (32,500 miles) with Everything but Sport Package. Already Ordered Aluminum Gas, Brake, Parking, and Dead Pedal. I wanted a Sport, but they were hard to Find. I have a 2001 Corvette with 34K Miles and have done every performance mod you can do (Heads, Cam, Gears, Intake, Exhaust, Headers, Everything!)

I didn't think I would be modding my business car, but I have the Bug Again. Going to do the Navigation/Video Bypass too.

I am JUST THINKING Maybeabout upgrading the tires and rims to a Larger Size????

I saw shome Chrome Rims on Ebay for $799 with Exchange and my rims are MINT.

OK, What are my options? Will 18" Rims/Tires Fit? Will 19" Rims/Tires Fit?

Will any larger tires fit on my existing rimd? (Probably Don't want to do that, but just curious).

Is Chrome Rims Stupid????? I think they kind of Look Good on many cars.

OK please let me know.

This is my first Post. I used to do this on the Corvette Forum for Years and stopped when the excitment wore off (10 years later)......

I am back excited about this car. My vette is 600 HP, btu I LOVE my G37. It looks great and has Fun Performance. I wish it were quicker, but all I read you can do is a Plentum Spacer (fairly cheaply), and not much else does a lot, Unless you supercharge, which I ain't doing.

OK, Back to Tires. What are my Options???????????????

First off, welcome to the site
If you're planning on lowering the car then 19 or 20" rims look very nice on these Gs. If you're staying w/ the stock suspension stick w/ 17 or 18" rims. As far as the chrome, I've gotten rid of all my chrome except for my Mt Fuji emblems, so I'm the wrong person to ask regarding chrome, lol. I'd say save the $799 for a new set of rims rather than just chroming the stockers, but that's just me.
Here's a good link w/ lowered Gs w/ aftermarket rims, just follow the directions on the 1st post to access the database

Most guys will go with 19-20 if they lower. There's 100's of options but I wouldn't do chrome rims.
heck out this thread too.
Have a Question/s about wheels? Ask here

chrome is a little played out IMO. I just bought an 09xS planning on doing 19s and lowering it a little bit, not a fan or cars that are dragging on the ground or the wheels go way up in the wheel well. Looks silly.

Thanks Guys! Chrome looks good on my Vette and on my wife's Lexus RX350. But, I can see how it might not look great on the G37. I found CHROME Exchange for $799 with exchange of your rims.

I don't want to Lower the Car. Did that to the Vette already, but not on this Car. So, are you SAYING, I can't get 19" Rims/Tires, unless I Lower the Car?

If you guys were getting 18/19, whatever, the size would you go with Stock Rims, or Aftermarket? I don't want to spend thousands on HRE's, or get something that looks wierd, BUT the 17" Rims and Tires (I think I have on there now, mines an 09 G37 Journey), make the Car look SMALL and do not give it as Beefy of a Stance.

Look Bad Azz, and were cheap on Ebay. I alsmost got the stock G37 Sport Pedals (The entire Assebly), as I found them off a wrecked G37 for $50 each. However, these aftermarket ones look way better AND have the Infinity Logo and Lettering. They are from CHINA, Hiiiiii Yaaaaaaaaaaa! I laid them on the 4 Pedals inside just to see what they would look like before I go to town with a drill. They make the car look so good! Rounds out all the brushed Aluminum in the cabin and matches the overall vibe of the interior very well. very Classy and Mean Looking. It also matches my Black Interior well, since they have rubber poking out through the holes in the aluminum pedals.

I will post Pics!

Hey, I might like Chrome Rims on some of my cars, but I think I have pretty good taste. I am not into the Ricer Look at all! My 2001 C5 Vette also has Aluminum Pedals. The ones I GOT for My G37, require you to DRILL through your OEM steel pedals with a drill and bolt them on with Allen Bolts. I am telling you, they look good!

Thanks Again Guys!

The Bandit.................

get some stock coupe 19s if you want to keep it classy and OEM so it's not so flashy for your work car.

Sniper,

Good, this will anmser my question. I think you just did. So, your saying I can just slap on some stock OEM 19's (wheels and tires) on my G37 and everything will fit fine and not rub?

I didn't knwo they made OEM 19's for a G37?

Also, I guess I would need to recalibrate the spedometer, right?

Would 19's make the car look better? What happens to ride quality? Up, down, or unchanged?

Thanks,

Bandit................

Search the forum......there are a thousand threads on the subject of wheels. You are asking questions that can easily be found and you will get several opinions that way....you will also be able to see the wheels on a sedan.

The coupe sport wheels are 19" and a very popular choice, I think they look great. They will not rub, the offsets look decent as is. There is a set on Craigslist now with new Hankooks for $1250. I think the M35 19" wheels also look great on a sedan, I think I saw a set of those with tires for $650. Both are pretty heavy, OEM wheels. Just depends what you want.

If you run the same overall diameter tire your speedo will not change.

The large wheel wells look good filled with a larger wheel. Any time you run a larger wheel, and keep the same overall diameter tire, you will run a shorter sidewall.......and that will affect the overall ride comfort, period. Some people like the sportier feel. I personally think 19's are a good size, not too big, not too small....all personal preference.

You do not have to lower your car to run a larger wheel......if you lowered your Vette I am surprised you asked that question.

Good luck,
RJ

yes, will slap right on with no rubbing or any issues. no need to recalibrate speedo if you use OEM tire sizes (225/45/19 F, 245/40/19 R). Ride quality will suffer mildly from 17s, but not that drastic. Here's my car on stock suspension with OEM coupe 19s.
